Is there a bigger loser in conference realignment than Mizzou?

They may think their move to the SEC is a good move today, but in the next few years there may not be a team that regrets their move more. The Big 12 is showing signs that it will go to at least 12 teams, their tv contract will compete with that of the SEC, Mizzou loses their true hated rival in KU, the SEC is not a good cultural fit for them, they are stuck on an island in the central Midwest, and will struggle to create rivalries as they are going to be thrown in the East division. But in the end there may not be a bigger rivalry in the country than that of Mizzou and KU. KU still has their in-state rivals to fill the void which Mizzou lacks. The loss of this rivalry will hurt Mizzou a lot, I personally see no gain for them in the SEC, and backlash will soon happen over this decision.

With the new B1G and B12, I don't see Mizzou being able to schedule KU and Illinois non-conference at all.

It's a terrible move, and even certain Missouri fans were regretting it. I was arguing from the start that they were stupid about it. It was a kneejerk reaction to try to give themselves more "stability", but in the coming years they will realize that their old Big 8 rivals are just fine and continuing our traditions with some new faces, while they continue to be the outsider that nobody really cares about, and who just doesn't fit in with the culture of the SEC. I'll root against them in every game and I hope they never win any conference titles or anything of note in the SECSECSEC.

Really sad to watch that game knowing they will not play unless they meet in a tournament somewhere again. With the Big 12 becoming a serious basketball powerhouse, KU would be silly to schedule them non-con. I think they backed themselves in a corner and are going to really regret it in a couple of years. Granted, they will dominate the SEC in bball, but the fans aren't going to have that passion to beat a team like they do with KU.

They will hate it, because once they are gone, no one in the Big 12 will care, and no one in the SEC will care either.

KU doesn't need misery, misery needs KU.

I see no reason why KU would want to continue the series.

So? From what they gain in basketball they will be destroyed in football. I think even Gary Pinkel decommitted after their decision to head to the SEC.

Big 12 made it known not to schedule missouri or a@m in non confrerance. Sec is a bad move for missouti. No rivals at all.

Who is their rival? Their neighbor, Arkansas.. Have fun. I always thought they were always the most annoying fans at the conference basketball tournament.

Yeah, MU definitely made the worst move in all of realignment. I know there is disagreement on whether it is a net positive for A&M to move, but at least a case can be made.... there's no real case for Mizzou.. they confused wanting to get out to the big 10 (which i think we'd even do if we had the chance) with wanting to get out no matter what the cost.

They haven't won a regular season Big 12 Championship EVER! What makes you think they will be relevant in a league where:
#1 Kentucky ....................................#2 Who cares?

Arkansas has their rival now in A&M, they have been playing since the days of the SWAC. Arkansas will care less about Mizzou, hell they wont even be in the same division.
