Is there such a thing as an intelligent conversation with a Hawk fan?

...and someone who is either really tough or really smart behind their screen name.:cute:

But rather than get into it with the genius that is kettle, explain this to me from the clone side:

Why is it bad to have fans that did not go to the school they cheer for? Obviously there are clone fans in this same boat...is there a caste system in cyclone nation where you tell those fans they are lesser than those of you who have a diploma from isu?

IMO...a bad fan is a bad fan regardless, and there are just as many from each side. It is naive to think there are not.

I have no problem with anyone cheering for who they want. And I could care less if someone went to college or not. You came on an Iowa State board, said you "hate ISU with all my heart" and then complain about being mistreated. I ask you,
1 Why do you hate Iowa State?
2. Why is Iowa better in your mind
3. Why is it fun to come on an Iowa State board and make comments about Iowa State?
For most Iowa State fans, the game is fun. Its a game, its supposed to be fun. There isn't hate. But you hit the nail on the head. Some Iowa fans may actually "hate" Iowa State with all their hearts. And that is too bad.....

ISU and Iowa fans are different in their attitude. ISU fans tend to be too much on the glass half-empty side whereas hawk fans tend to be on the glass overflowing type. ISU fans tend to be a bit pessimistic and hawk fans tend to drink Kool-Aid by the gallon. If ISU and Iowa had completely identical teams, ISU fans would probably be hoping for seven wins and Iowa fans for 53. The reason most people dislike Iowa fans is because they tend to be on the delusional and obnoxious side, especially tavernhoks.

I now like Herky Killer better...there is nothing wrong with hating your rival. It doesn't mean I hate my friends who cheer for isu.

As far as...

1 Why do you hate Iowa State?
2. Why is Iowa better in your mind?

I grew up in a family of Iowa Alums and graduated from Iowa myself...that is why I like Iowa better and dislike isu as our rival.

3. Why is it fun to come on an Iowa State board and make comments about Iowa State?

Other than not liking isu, I have not made any negative comments about them (I don't think). I also don't feel I have been mistreated. I have never ventured to the clone board and find your perspectives interesting. I have had fun discussing the intricacies of the isu side of this debate with those who actually make logical points...even if they are anti-Hawk.

I know one Hawk fan and Iowa alum who is rational and can carry on an intelligent conversation regarding college athletics. One.

I have never had one. If you have, please let me know. This is a journalism project I am working on.

Sure, I think it's definitely possible to have an intelligent conversation with a Hawk fan. In reading through this thread it seems there are Cyclone fans here who would agree with me on that.

It's also very possible that you'll meet someone with whom you cannot have an intelligent conversation. That has been my experience with Cyclone fans. Both fan bases have reasonable people and both fan bases have Kool-aid drinking delusional types. I've seen both types of Hawk fans and both types of Cyclone fans. Both of them are irritating and annoying.

This is seen with every group of fans in the country. Nebraska, Ohio State, Texas, Florida, etc. (OK, you may have to search a little harder to find a reasonable Florida fan!)
