Is this another "one and done" Kansas team?

I predict they will slip by their first round to get hammered in the second.

I really don't see how you could say this. There aren't many holes in their game now that their guards are shooting the 3 ball fairly well. They seem to be getting better as the year goes on. They have played the toughest schedule in the country so far, and it's paying dividends.

If they continue to clean up some sloppy TO's they occasionally have, they will cruise through the first weekend and more likely contend for a final four, IMO.

Over the years I genuinely think Big 12 officiating has damaged KU's tournament performance by helping them along in games they deserve to lose, like last year when they transformed a loss at Ames into a W...that didn't help their tournament chances, it made them softer than they should have been.

This team is so loaded though, that I think they adjust to playing real 5 on 5 basketball after a first few games without taking a loss and then it won't affect them in the later rounds.

And now the "they're good and recruit well, so they're cheating" posts begin.

Not sure you could say this out of the realm of possibilities.

Kansas on probation for violations in men's hoops, football - Men's College Basketball - ESPN

"Kansas is in trouble once again for the bad judgment of its basketball program.

This time, the violations included a booster giving more than $5,000 in benefits to two basketball players and their families. One player received the majority of the benefits before and after he attended the university.
The NCAA report said other boosters gave graduation gifts to outgoing players, a fact that individuals within the athletic department were aware of, including former basketball coach Roy Williams.
In football, seven tranfers received improper benefits before they were admitted to the school. Two of those players were provided with answers to a test by a former graduate assistant coach."

I also remember commits parents receiving jobs in the athletic department during the time their child played ball. This happened several times. What do you think the odds that you or I could just land a job a a major universities athletic department? I don't know that KU has paid their current players and I'm not saying they are, but let's not pretend that it's a stretch to believe.

The only thing Self and Calipari have in common is that they were both graduate assistants at Kansas. They and their programs are about as opposite as can be.

Looks like they learned from the same teacher.

Nope this is a final 4 team.

Well, he has had like 7 of those, and been to two, so I am not ready to crown them yet.

They are as talented as anyone in the country, and should be a favorite for the ff.

It will be interesting to see if they compete well when they have to play straight up, history says it doesn't end with them cutting down the nets.

KU still has a month+ to improve. They don't suck no matter how much Mad wants them to.

Agree, I think at this point KU has probably the most talent and is currently playing the hottest ball. If the NCAA tournament was tomorrow that would be a good sign. My question is weather they are "peaking" too early? There are peaks and valleys to every teams seasons. Most talented KU team that I can remember, but they do have a history of soiling themselves when it matters in March. Time will tell.

If you ask me Selfie and Calipari are cut from the same cloth. With the quasi agents shopping the top players, I can't imagine how much KU had to "invest" to assemble this roster. I can only hope that their investment ends with an early exit from the NCAA tournament.

Bill Self is thousand times the coach that Calipari is. Self has proven that he is able to bring his young team together. Kansas looked extremely vulnerable in the non-conference. Now they are playing the best basketball of anyone in the country. Has he had tremendous freshman over the years? Yes. But he has also developed his big men like no other for the college game. Darrell Arthur, Cole Aldrich, the Morris twins, Thomas Robinson, Jeff Withey.

We all dislike KU for the obvious reasons. But you also have to give credit where credit is due.

Kansas isn't usually a traditional "one and done" team. They are a first WEEKEND one and done team. They have wrecked more than one bracket for me.

I don't think that's the case this year.

Can you imagine what Self could have done with some of the Roy Williams Kansas teams, where they underachieved (hello Collison and Hinrich!)? Wow.

I try and watch all of KU games. They are improving at a rapid rate with so many freshman playing. It is a little scary thinking how good they could be in two months. Wiggins is just getting comfortable and the game is slowing down for him. They are showing patience and discipline that I think could dismantle the Syracuse zone. Self will have them well oiled for the NCAA's. Think the BIG 12 is going to do well in the tourney and could be even stronger next year.

Every school that's been to the tourney enough times has a history of getting upset. That's what makes the tourney so great. What happened to ISU the last time they were a 2 seed? Upsets happen so often in that tournament that we are just used to it and disappointed if they don't happen. Only once in the history of the tournament all 4 #1 seeds made it to the Final Four. KU has a really good team but there's currently 3 teams that haven't lost a game yet. I think this years tourney is going to be crazy.

They've only lost once in 7 years in the first weekend. UNI.

Nick and Kirk went to 2 Final Fours with Roy. The KU 1997 team may have been their best ever. LaFrenz, Pollard, Pierce, Vaugn. And they were beat also by one hot 3 pt shooting player.

I hate KU and Self with a passion, but watching that game last night, I knew there was no way we were going to win it. It had nothing to do with the classic ISU curse or the refs screwing us, it was because Kansas was just a better team. I'm proud of the Clones for making a game of it. It was a very entertaining game, but in the end, Kansas is just too good right now to steal one on their court. They just seemed to have an answer for everything we gave them.

Because of that, I think it's going to take a major slip up on KU's part to not go pretty deep in the tournament. We seemed to struggle to keep it close while KU looked like they were just strolling along. I'm not saying they couldn't lose early, anything can happen. But to look at this KU team now and not think they are one of the best in the country, is a case of drinking too much Cardinal Kool-aid.
