Can't decide if this is good or bad:
. . . when Andy Brodell returned a punt 81 yards for a touchdown. Iowa State has given up a grand total of 45 yards in punt returns in the eight games since.

This team, although doesn't look like made any progress this year, really did. they will soon learn how to win the close ones, and will surprise a few people along the way. This thing will take some time. I am willing to have patience, is everyone else?

It makes me feel better. The whole article does. We are close. We'll learn how to finish.
I liked McCarney but the one thing his teams never did was learn to finish. I don't recall many last quarter wins until his last year and those four wins we all in doubt until the final play. I think with the recruits GC is getting he will be able to finish the deal.

Beginning with the UNLV game...

41 punts
...13 fair catch
...8 downed
...5 out-of-bounds
...5 touchback
...10 returned for 44 yds (1 lost fumble)

Giving 20 yds per touchback, that's 144 total yards given up on 41 punts -- or 3.5 yds per punt.
