Are you serious? A DCI Investigation into what results in the same type of ticket as an MIP isn't wasteful? You don't think that tracing the timing of the account setups, bets, locations, etc. didn't take DCI manpower?

This is, without a doubt, something that could have been handled informally without the need for the DCI and a prosecutor's office.

Investigate the Investigators!

Just another rumor but my buddy says that he found out from somebody inside the Iowa AD that this all started when that Iowa baseball player set up an account in his mother's name without her knowing about it. When she started getting stuff from the book she thought her identity had been stolen and went to the authorities with it. That got the whole ball rolling.

Take it for what it is worth as second or third hand information.

If I were the DCI or a state lawyer this would perk my ears up immediately. Even if this rumor isn’t true the potential for this kind of abuse is too big to ignore. Have to act swift and hard or faith in the system goes way down.

I would also guess if CMC thinks Dekkers is a good guy, will learn from this, and can contribute to the team then he will let him back on the team. If CMC thinks Dekkers is selfish and not a good leader (as some on here have claimed) then he will probably tell him to move on for a fresh start elsewhere.
Did Dekkers bet over the threshold where he has now lost the remainder of his college eligibility, and did he also bet on his own team? If so, isn't the NCAA penalty that he won't be coming back to the team (lost eligibility), regardless of what CMC thinks of him?

Help me out. I don't follow this as closely as some.

He may not play but he could still be a member of the team or staff.

We’ll see, but in my uninformed opinion, if CMC was finished with Dekkers he’d already be gone.
I don't know about that. In my uninformed opinion, CMC and the athletic department generally are waiting until the entire process with the NCAA is done (including initial punishments and any appeals) before they do anything extra. From what has been rumored (or maybe reported) before, it sounds like the involved athletes haven't really been part of the team since the news came out, so I'm not sure there's harm in just maintaining that status until the NCAA process is completely done.

Curious. It will be interesting to see how this shakes out.

What we do know: Dekkers will not play for ISU again (and all NCAA eligibility) due to gambling, and exceeding the limit, and betting on his team. That's a given, correct?

What we don't know: Why is Dekkers still listed on the team roster? Is he still part of the team in some way? Why?

Is the above fairly accurate?

I'm sure he appealed the NCAA suspension so he's technically still on the team pending the appeals process

Spoiler: He's going to lose.

Makes sense.

I'm going to leave it alone for now. I'll assume we let this play out, then there will be a small statement or news story that reports he lost said appeal.

For Campbell, and the football team, that chapter is over.

I do know that he is still enrolled and I believe doing class work, though it may be remote. His goal is to stay academically eligible while the athletic eligibility stuff is figured out.

Agree. When we are 2-4 Dekkers is going to look pretty tempting. If he can somehow get a 6 game suspension he may be available. I think we all saw that Rocco and JJ have potential but won’t beat the Big 12 big dogs this year.

The start of a juicy conspiracy theory.

I do think it's stupid that other programs won't have anything happen but it's also funny if anyone thinks someone out there was trying to sink two programs that the general public really doesn't care about.

I‘ve already mentally moved on from Dekkers. Saturday will tell us a lot about how Rocco handles the big games.

Last weekend got me moving on from all of them.

Even if Rocco struggles Saturday I'm more impressed with him. In last year's SEMO game Dekkers still looked indecisive in his completions and Rocco just didn't give that vibe last week.

And Sama's going to be a dude by October so long as he stays healthy.
