Nice Get! Elliott already locking them down. fwiw - we need a football verizon of TJ Otzelberger...

Really not trying to be mean....but...can you hear me now?

I can't believe there are people wondering about this kid, young, with a big frame that has plenty of room to grow. Not to mention this is one of the main areas that most people complain that we haven't been recruiting well...this should be good news.

Its a little harder for longer and taller guys to put on weight, we'll have to see how he is built though.

I always thought it was easier because they have more frame to fill out and more growing potential. If he was 5-8 and short limbed I'd say hed be maxed out, but since hes so long he can put on a lot of good weight. Maybe I'm crazy but this makes sense to me. (and seems to with the other posters too)

This. I don't think our staff would offer someone they didn't think had potential.

"I've seen a lot of colleges, I've seen USC and UCLA and LSU and a bunch of others," Irving said. "And everything about Iowa State just blows everything else away. The academic center is really nice. The dorms are spectacular. I like the tradition there with the stadium named after Jack Trice and the whole city of Ames is built around Iowa State. It's 'Go Cyclones' everywhere."

Yeah, that whole thing with Ames not supporting ISU as hard as it can is really biting the clones in the ***!! haha can't believe some people actually believed that.

You've got to love a kid saying things like that about our great university.

needs to eat about 10 mcdonald hamburgers a day plus ten chocolate malts and get upto 255 so he can gain some weight-plus he probably needs to get in the weight room as a redshirt for a year to muscle up-could put him on the offensive side of the ball and see if he can catch a pass-he might be an offensive surprise-would be very hard to defend at a 6-7--- 250-260 lb te. looks like he will become a mean defensive end if he muscles out and gains about 20 lbs. he maybe come our star of this recruiting class after a year of redshirting.

Great get, he seems really underrated, if he has even 4-7 4-8 speed that would be more gravy. Under McKnight he will turn into our next stud..... personally what we really need.....

honestly, i'd be much more concerned if he was 250+ than his current 230. Those 250+ pound 16 year olds are usually just big fat kids who excel due to size alone. This kid has a great frame to add muslce to. And I can about guarantee you that BE thought the same thing when he saw him.

Thus making me excited about this kid's potential at DE!

The city could do so much more for ISU, but they refuse too..

Tell you what, let's get him on a diet of healthy food to gain the right weight, instead of that McDonald's stuff just adding 20-30 pounds of fat. I don't think the McD's thing would help him or us.

I'm lost. So is this a guy that we'll beat out SDSU for or will he get some Pac 10 offers?
Seriously? I mean, so you really consider SDSU a "big time" program?

I dunno about USC, but I would think that as the season progresses, the likes of Oregon State, the AZ or WA schools, or Colorado or Utah might jump in on him. It's happened before with ISU recruits.

Look at this guys size coming out of high school....

Greg Romeus - Yahoo! Sports

Now he is this for anyone that didnt know. He didnt have a great offer list, but slightly better than what we got. Definite redshirt, but will love to see guys of his size on our Dline.

Hope Jake McDonough turns some heads this year, about the same size and he put on a TON of weight between his senior year and frosh year.

230 is fine for a HS DE. If he's 230 now, he'll probably be 245 by the time he reports. At 6'7", he should be able to gain weight fairly rapidly. By the time he is a RS FR, don't be surprised if he's 255+.

Hopefully he's the next Reggie Hayward.

Why not the next Reggie White? The "Minister of Defense" played 15 NFL seasons at 6-5 & 300lbs. Love to see us getting that height. Once filled out a bit, this young man may be able to do many things. 6-7 and Coaches Rhoads and Elliot are excited about him? That excites me!

This is a good get. I suspect he'll be a three star by the end of the season. All it will take is a couple of Pac 10 offers to be a 3star. That's why stars are meaningless, but I know some of you love that stuff.
