Why do we even bother playing? Right? Just hand awards out now, move on.

Seriously though, as we all know, many times one-two plays make a game. If we can get more of those than not (especially in close games)....that's all it takes. Playmakers making plays.

Or in the case of the Texas game, refs making calls...

Response to some ?s in thread.
16.5 dog at TCU
TCU will be much improved this yr. They joined the B12 at a bad time for their program because they had lost a lot of upperclassmen. Now in yr 3 Patrerson has 16 returning starters. Last yr they had several close losses including by 3 @ OU, by 2 @ K-st and by 3 vs Baylor. Over/under is 7 @ 5dimes sportsbook, I like over.

Texas a powerhouse?
Not saying TX will be a powerhouse and the TX of old, but they still have lots of talent on the team. The TX def will be a very strong unit and this will be the best D ISU has faced at this point of the yr. Over the past 4 yrs average road loss has been 28 pts.

Better chance vs Baylor than Iowa??
Iowa is not a great team nor better than Baylor so that is not why this line looks this way. One thing is location. ISU is @ Iowa while Baylor is @ ISU. Baylor has struggled on the road the past 3 yrs (13 road games) giving up 35+ pts in 9 of those games (5 of the times 49+). Both ISU and Baylor will be off a bye. ISU plays @ Iowa which can be a tough place to play. Iowa's Oline will be great and the ISU Dline will be questionable. Iowa will try to control the ball all game on the ground. When on Off ISU will have to go after Iowa's LBs who will be questionable for Iowa. A couple places in Vegas already put a line up on this game, one has Iowa by 9 and the other Iowa by 14.

What website has ISU -3 vs ND St? That line should be around 7 - 9.

BOL (Bet on Line) does not have the game listed, neither did Brovado.

Please let me know so I can put a Dime on this game.

You think we should be a 7-9 point favorite against NDST? The same team who beat K state last year? I'm not sure what NDST has coming back but they can't have fallen off that much.

Plus we lost to UNI (we were a 9.5 point favorite) who ended up losing 5 games playing an FCS schedule.

Im not sure how anyone ITT can complain about these lines being too extreme. If anything, I'm surprised they aren't higher (on the end of us being dogs).

Melvin,
As with most ISU games no lines are out yet. All the games are based on numbers but the ND ST, game which is based more on perception. The Golden Nugget in Vegas has lines for a couple ISU games. The projected lines are based on power ratings from Chris Andrews (former bookmaker in Vegas). However when the actual lines come out bookmakers figure in public perception. Bookmakers know ISU gets no love from betting public and everyone will remember what ND ST did last yr at KS ST as a 13 pt dog and how they won the title. I agree that if ISU is -4 or less they will be a solid bet. ND ST graduated lots. Plus ISU is 13-2 last 15 home openers in Ames (not counting game in KC vs Florida St)

About 10 of those 15 games were against FCS opponents. And all the rest are MAC schools. Not murderer's row. NDSU won at K-State last year so they are not your typical fluff team.

Yes, NDSU beat K-State last year with their full team AND coach. They have lost a lot player wise, & have a brand new college football coach. Doesn't get much more apple/orange than that..
