The Cyclones also announced their Sept. 25 contest against Northern Iowa at Jack Trice Stadium will kickoff at 6 p.m.

and fans in Iowa will be able to watch Texas on FSN.

Regardless... point being their game (more aptly, crappy contract) will prohibit ours from making it to the tube. Unless we get picked up :)nah:)

Playing a I-AA team has as much to do with it as the TV contract itself.

I am actually surprised they scheduled a 6 PM after the survey results they released. Didn't about 2/3 of the fans prefer afternoon games?

I'm not sure how the figure out the times of the games, but I would bet a lot of it has to do with when the TV networks want to put your game on TV. Therefore, the TV networks have a big say in what time the game is going to start. Being on TV is probably more important than what time fans want to go to the game. It's probably a preference for our fans to have an afternoon game, but a night game probably won't stop them from still coming.

Yeah, but they know damn well the UNI game wont be on TV, unless Mediacom picks it up. Medicom is not going to be picky with the time, they will air it whenever ISU wants to play it.

I found the survey here... http://www.cyclones.com//pdf4/669143.pdf?DB_OEM_ID=10700

66% of fans preferred afternoon games. 18% preferred 6PM and 16% preferred 11:30 AM.

Ok - I'll cut to the chase.

Mediacom would be a great and obvious choice to air this game for the residents of Iowa. The Big XII contact will not allow that to happen. Instead, our fans will be enjoying Texas, Oklahoma and likely Nebraska.

ISU has had no attendance problems while playing UNI in September at 6 p.m. Aren't a couple of those recent games top-10 all-time attendance at JTS?

I think one of the recent UNI games is the highest attended game. 55K and change I think.

Not sure why the dislike for 6PM games. Especially in September. Hotter - so cooler at kick. All day tailgating. Not usually much into harvest for the farmers.

Sure as heck don't like them in Oct and Nov though. And I don't think the survey allowed you to really convey that.

That's nothing new. It's been that way for 15 seasons now.

Love the hyperbole, too. Oklahoma is on the road. Nebraska is playing South Dakota State, which means it's probably destined for PPV. The Texas game may be over by the time ISU starts, if ABC puts it in the 2:30 slot (still TBA).

The Big 12 home schedule for Sept. 25 is rather lackluster. It's quite possible that FSN doesn't even pick a 6:00 game, which could open the door for a Clone Zone situation (same as the Army game last season).

Yeah, the 06 and 07 UNI games are both high up in the JTS all-time attendance records. Cannot remember which one set the mark of about 55.5k.

UNI at 6 does not surprise me. Nor do I care. I have a feeling we will see impacts from the survey during the non-televised conference games we may have at home. At that point a 6 PM kick in the late fall is not preferable.

My cable provider just switched to Fox Sports North from Fox Sports Midwest, and that would be terrible if it didn't pick up the game. Anyone know if it will?

Twins vs Tigers
7:10 pm, Sept. 2
FS North

They could split the feed to let Iowa subscribers see ISU, and Minnesota subscribers see the Twins. It's been done before.

Who would split the feed? My cable provider or FSN?
