Don't get me wrong, I believe the offense is horrible.

I just don't understand why it's so blasphemous to bash the defense. They haven't really played a decent game since Baylor, and even under Knott and Klein, they still weren't spectacular.

Because the offense scores less than what the defense gives up and we have only a 20 point offensive machine after five years of recruiting. Danny Mac did that well.

The only real issues their are is LB and DLine. Dline players are always hard to find. Not having LB depth is what I don't understand. Over the past 10 years ISU has had good LBs, yet is seem to always be a struggle to get depth there.

Oh, ok, I am glad we don't have issues with our defensive backfield...you know, the 5'-6" smurfs who by the second quarter are so banged up and bashed they are scared to tackle anymore. It is not 1982 and we are not the Redskins. We need 6'+ corners and safeties. Yeah, Yeah, Spud Webb could dunk, but I think it was always with a running start at a charity event half-time show. He never won many games and never won a championship. He was funny though and he made people smile. Kind of like Cyclone football I guess.
I love the way we coach them to cover too. No "bump and run" coverage ever, right? A refereee might flag us....hahahahaaha. Watch an Alabama game or OU game...it is freaking smash-mouth every play with the cornerbacks. A referee cannot throw the damn flag every damn play and their coaches are smart enough to calibrate thier defense to that. I also love how our guys are coached apparently to give 5-yard cushions on 3rd downs and 8. Rhoads the defensive genius better start talking to his Defensive assistants.......3rd and 8 and our dbacks are backpedaling like it is some run-backwards drill in spring training. Ridiculous.
