We’re driving out east this fall and it doesn’t look far off of Interstate 80. I will talk the husband into paying our respects and remember to wear my Trice stripes t-shirt.

I belive you're right about his facing south, but John and Anna are on the same side. I believe his father is on the other. I didn't think to take a picture of the other side when I was there. It's not much off of 80. IIRC, Anna's memorial faces North, John's (Jack) faces South.
I visited the site in 2013. Paid my respects to Jack and his family and left a little Cyclone memento on the base of the gravestone. The coordinates for the gravestone areIf any of you decide to venture to Hiram, here's a rough location of where Jacks headstone is. I was there a few weeks ago and spent about 25 minutes wandering around trying to find it. Figured this could help anyone.

Yes, very interesting. Troop L 10th. Googling it will bring up some good details on it, they were one of the original "Buffalo Soldier" regiments.U.S. Cavalry. Interesting.
When I was a kid, I had a friend whose uncle had a trash collection business. They found all kinds of pretty decent stuff, but it also mostly smelled pretty funky![]()
Wow, totally biffed on the thread click thereNot to worry, I don't think Jack would have much of an odor at this point.

Popping in to confirm his service in the 10th cavalry from 1882 to 1887. He galloped all over southwest Texas and southern Arizona. I have a bunch of original war documents that I dug out of some archives. Lots of really cool stuff. Maybe one day. I'm also pretty sure that's not the right birth date.
Spencer Hall (@edsbs) wrote a story in 2016 that led with Green Trice:
BUFFALO: ALSO KNOWN AS THE AMERICAN BISON
Some small details are wrong, but the overall story is fantastic. Spencer and a bunch of others also wrote a fictional CFB book, Sinful Seven, with Jack Trice in it and I worked closely with Richard Johnson (who's at Sports Illustrated now) on those segments. Richard also took much of our work and wrote this fantastic nonfiction piece:
Concerning the Many Legends of the Cyclone Named Jack Trice
While I'm here, I also wrote on Twitter today about finding a film of Jack Trice that ended up being a false alarm. There's pictures and everything:
There is an I-STATE logo on the top of the headstone on Jacks side. I'm honestly a little disappointed that someone put it on there... While it was what caught my eye and allowed me to find it, I found it a bit disrespectful to attach something to the headstone. Now if you're thinking about just something to stake in the ground in front of it, I'm all for that.So I am wondering if I can find a little sign with Trice Stripes and “We Will” I can take when we go. Could make one maybe but don’t want the trademark police on my case.
Yes, was thinking to put in ground knowing whoever mows would remove it at some pointThere is an I-STATE logo on the top of the headstone on Jacks side. That insignia was not there when I visited in 2013. What I did was sat a little Cyclone "teddy bear" on the base of the gravestone. I sat it there and then forgot to take a picture with it there, duh! There is an I-STATE logo on the top of the headstone on Jacks side. College buddy last name King named his son John. Pissed him off when I called him Jack. Don't know why? (Jack King off)As was JFK, who also went by "Jack"
I agree. I hoped that wasn’t stuck to the stone. That’s disrespectful. There is an I-STATE logo on the top of the headstone on Jacks side. I was thinking jack was short for John Patrick but I guess it's just short for John in some cases. In my family at least all the Jack's (4) are John PatricksI didn't know his legal name was "John". Very interesting
When I was younger, I used to wonder about who John F Kennedy’s brother Jack was, since I’d heard of Ted and Bobby. Because I heard people mention him all the time.I was thinking jack was short for John Patrick but I guess it's just short for John in some cases.
