You could put a scoreboard above on Northside hill and a Jumbotron above the other, then a huge HD one above the new addition...

The nationals just put in a 4,500 sq ft HD scoreboard.

One other thing about putting 2 smaller screens in the two North Hills is it would give the feeling of the stadium being totally closed in even when its not.

Back to the Basketball thing. I wonder if the decision to renovate State Gym contributed in delaying the basketball practice facility. Those renovations, although not being paid for by the athletic dept., should give them enough room to practice until the new facility is able to be built.

I think the reason they pushed back the practice facility is because additional seating in Jack Trice=$ and the practice facility doesn't. Even if you make the augment that the team will play better because of the practice facility and that will equal better basketball attendance, the south end zone expansion will still provide more income. Not to mention that there is more momentum behind the football program right now than the basketball program.

Or maybe McD took a page from Donovan and decided the guys weren't playing well enough to deserve a practice facility...

I think the improvement to State Gym is the reason the practice facility is being pushed back. I am okay with that. Had there been no improvement being made to State Gym, I would be against the upper deck before bball practice facility.

I don't think the renoviations to State Gym have anything to do with why they pushed back the practice facility. The Basketball team currently practices in Hilton and I don't see that changing

Can somebody create a model of what JT would look like with a upper deck in the end zone? I don't know if I have seen one before, but I liked the ones people made with the original bowled in end zone idea.

I would do this, but the athletic department is not the biggest fan of this kind of thing. We found that out a few weeks ago...

Continuing to use the State Gym should not affect performance on the court. It probably is a downer in terms of recruiting, but not in terms of team development. Creighton practices in an old Gym known as the Hilltop on campus. It is similar to the State Gym in terms of vintage and design. They have done OK as they are one of the few teams with a streak of 10 or more 20 win seasons.

Hilton is not always available for practice. They rarely use it for 'individual' workouts and probably only have full scale practices there 3/4 of the time. The others they have to go to State Gym or Forker.

Is there a reason why you can't build the supports for the scoreboard, and what I mean is throw a couple of stylish columns inside the Jake, in order to support a scoreboard on top of the building? Is there something in there that cannot be moved?

We are an engineering school - make it a class project to figure out....

Are not most of the big boards facing north due to the sun? I am not sure I see a new one facing south.

and Beyer as they practice there sometimes as well. I used to go into State and shoot in the mornings and it was kind of intimidating being on one of the side courts with the players on the main court doing drills.

Forker is a very nice gym, that once it gets air conditioning this summer, is more then adequate for a pratice facility. They use State Gym, but not as much as some of you guys think they do. State Gym and the other facilities on campus are more for "pick up" games and one on one work outs. They don't have a full scale practices there.

Plus it makes more sense finishing Jack Trice before getting the basketball facilities done. Jack Trice brings in way more revenue then basketball. Like someone said, more money=faster and better upgrades.

That's really dumb. To me all that is saying is they want to hush peoples excitement about the improvements. What harm could come from it? Just don't put ISU on it and call it something else.

That's disappointing. Maybe to just me. The way I see it, it was a fun thread and the renderings of what JTS COULD look like were fun to imagine. I guess that I don't see the harm in posting images of what JTS could look like. If memory serves me correctly, it generated a lot of enthusiasm and interest on the thread? I would think that the athletic department would appreciate the "free marketing".

Agreed, that's dumb. Unless the order came from JP himself, I would disregard it. And you'd know if it came from him personally because he would personally sign the letter in wet ink!

Because there are people out there who would see the YouTube clip and naturally assume it was the official rendering/fly-by when it is not. Then the athletic department would have to answer questions from the media and fans about why it was posted on YouTube instead of on cyclones.com. (Some people are idiots that way.)

The only way to be completely safe is to request that such materials not exist in the public domain.
