Let's just be honest. A majority of our uniforms from 1892-2015 were just plain ugly.

I like our base uniforms now and the Trice throwbacks better than any uniforms ISU has ever had. I've been a fan since '97 so the nostalgia some have for 70s, 80s or 90s isn't really there for me. Our uniforms in the late 90s to early 00s were atrocious, pre-IState our sports brand identity was pretty terrible as well.

The Jack Trice throwbacks already are a good modernization of that look. If they matched exactly they'd clash with our brand identity, they way they designed them doesn't clash with our identity at all, brilliant.

We're brilliant in this area right now compared to the past, the Big 12 logo even got a huge upgrade. *Obligatory I work in branding and clothing snobbery note*

The only thing I would do different is put the Trice stripes on the pants on the bottom facing up; basically mirror the shoulders.

This is awesome but we're at a point where reintroducing the 70s/80s cyclone mark doesn't make sense even if it looks cool. Mock up would still look awesome with the I State instead and wouldn't conflict with anything they've been working toward.

I like this better because the helmet pops more with the red tops & bottoms. Cleaner and simpler as well. Less is more.

I love our current logo- & I'm not saying we need to ditch it in favor of the funnel. It'd just be nice to have an alternate for the helmet. Plenty of teams don't put their main logo on the helmet.

I completely agree. I love this helmet, but the whole look would still work with our current I-State brand mark on either a cardinal or gold helmet.

Except the I State logo is **** Not unique, not modern. The logo above is much more unique to ISU and much more exciting.

I disagree, however I expect a new logo from the new AD after Pollard is hired in MN.

Also thread AGAIN proves you can't please everyone all the time.

This is my favorite uniform concept that I've seen. Love that it pays tribute to Jack Trice (a legacy I think ISU should embrace/promote even more than we do) without it taking over the entire uniform. Two tweaks I would make:

1. I've always thought it was a mistake not to include a third color into our home uniform set. It makes it really difficult to try alternative sets when we don't have a 3rd color. It doesn't need to be much, just a little white would make it much easier to mix and match with further alternates. As is, our hands are tied.

2. The I State logo is here to stay and will always be our primary helmet logo. I think the above helmet would look sharp with a red stencil I State logo, though.

Also, not to rain on anyone's parade, but as long as CPR is our head coach, we will have our current uniform set and likely nothing more. Which is too bad because some of you guys can mock up some awesome designs.

An effective trademark doesn't need to be modern, just well managed. The whirly bird was an attempt to be modern and quickly became dated and permanently time stamped as mid-90s.

If the whirly bird thing and I State had never happened and we had that cyclone mark on our football uniforms since the 70s I'd probably favor keeping it as a key element not just in football but all sports, that's not the case though.

WHY NOT HAVE BOTH?? Keep the I-State logo. Put it on the fifty yardline and @ midcourt. Put the funnel on the helmet. And switch it up from time to time. See my sig:

Why not put both on...prepare to have your mind blown...the same helmet??? Funnel on one side, word logo on the other. There's no rule saying the same thing must be on each side of the helmet.

I'm having blue flashbacks. Never again.

The navy blue was unequivocally bad. But what I'm talking about is just a little white somewhere on the uniform to make it easier to mix and match with alternate white pants/helmets.

I love these. Put me in the minority.

AGREE!!! I like the solid colors Cardinal on Cardinal or Gold on Gold. We obviously need to do something to get better recruits. Once again we will start doing this stuff 5 years from now when changing up uniforms will become "old news". Look how bad are football facilities were compared to the rest of the league and then once we finally upgraded them it's only good enough to compare them the same as most other schools in the league!

1. Need to have at least 4 Uni options.

2. No more Smoke on the Water intro.

What about chrome helmets, black jerseys, and Sweet Caroline?

Recruits don't like the all gold. It looks good for basketball but for football no. It looks horrendous.
