Lol, what? That's months of hard work, it's not a pump after his first workout.Well he is flexing, closed fists in the second picture.....

Yep. He'll have a backstop. He just needs to know his assignments and how to help from his position (more easily said than done when it comes to high level defensive cohesion).I'm not necessarily holding my breath on the defensive stopper part but that's fine. The style of D ISU has played with TJ is far more about activity, BBall IQ, cohesion, and communication than it is about raw individual ability to lock someone down.
While there's probably an adjustment period for pretty much all the newcomers (Omaha and Gilbert probably excluded given both are known as really good defenders), I think the "want to" is even more of a factor for ISUs defense when it's already half the battle at times even in less team-reliant defensive systems.
Agreed! We will definitely have fresher legs, and hopefully that leads to better offense. Jackson will definitely be a big piece there. The Big 12 is indeed a grind, but at least next year we will go 9 or 10 deep and he won't have to be out there 35 plus minutes like our guards last season had to do (especially after Grill was hurt). We have him, Gilbert and Hamilton to rotate at two spots. Likely Watson too. Plus, Gilbert can play some point, which is especially important if Williamson can't go because of the injury.
A number of years ago, one of our neighbors bought a Flex. While sitting on our front porch, my wife commented to me, "Oh god. It looks like Michelle bought a hearse." Michelle must have decided the same. The vehicle was returned to the dealer 2 days later.

But they look like a sporty hearse.Saw a car the other day somewhere in Des Moines that looked like a hearse. I think it was a Dodge Magnum wagon. It's the kind of car that makes you think you should pull over until they pass by.
But they look like a sporty hearse.
5 years a Flex owner and love it. Nice and boxy. You'd be amazed at how much crap I can haul back and forth to/from Florida because the boxy shape allows more capacity than those angular sloped things.A number of years ago, one of our neighbors bought a Flex. I don't mind the way they look and they do seem pretty practical. My wife just does not like them.5 years a Flex owner and love it. Nice and boxy. You'd be amazed at how much crap I can haul back and forth to/from Florida because the boxy shape allows more capacity than those angular sloped things.
Would buy another one if they still were making them. There is a surf shop here that has a light green one they use for their business with two boards on top. Everyone comments on how great it looks.
Unfortunately, mine's a boring silver color.
"nearly double digit..."We're approaching or are at double digits for kids that Bucky fans shake their head about as they have great stints or careers in Ames.
I like watching the utter failure by the Baylor guard in that clip. I'm pretty sure he wanted to just crawl off the floor at that point...I'm sure they try, but there probably isn't a way to measure how well a player can play the specific defense Iowa State is trying to play until they actually play it. So much of it is positioning and being in the right spot at the right time and if one person is off, it can mess the whole thing up. Specifically I think of Tre Jackson who always seemed like a really good on ball defender, but he was out of position in our defense a ton. I think its also a reason Robert Jones plays more than most people think he should. He's almost always in the right spot at the right time. He might not get the steals or blocks, but how many times as he been a brick wall on a drive that led to either a bad shot or an attempted kickout that gets stolen. At times it felt like 50% of Lipsey's steals involved Jones in one way or another.
Even this clip. https://www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/35821157
The Baylor defender gets a step on Lipsey, see's Holmes and Jones ready to pounce and tries to step back and crossover leading to a steal.
"T.J. was Facetiming me every day," Paveletzke said. "The morning of the NCAA Tournament before they played Pitt. I mean, he was Facetiming me after their practices and soon as their season ended he flew up to see me then the next couple days he was down to see my family. He really flew up and saw me a lot......OK, where is the ’how are we gonna score next year’ crowd?
Never doubt TJ’s recruiting chops.
Sounds like the old Soviet Union National Team from all corners of the realm! So we could have on the court at one time Momcilovic, Paveletzke and Indrusaitis. Good luck, Walters.
I'll take 1 Arvydas Sabonis please.Sounds like the old Soviet Union National Team from all corners of the realm!
He was awesome!I'll take 1 Arvydas Sabonis please.
Brock Purdy like...My wife said he’s a cutie so that’s awesome lol
Or touching a door handle in a Walmart in Iowa city.In-dra-cite-iss sounds like a disease you would pick up after swimming in Missouri farm pond.
They might hold a lot of stuff... but man those cars are FUGLY.
This is such a key point. We started the season with 1 PG (true FR) and 3 off guards, then were down to 1 and 2, with Holmes trying to play out of position at the point. I wonder if fatigue contributed to the woeful shooting by he and Kalscheur down the stretch, especially vs Pitt. In today’s game where teams play 3 guards most of the time you need at least 5 healthy guards in every game. The Big 12 is indeed a grind, but at least next year we will go 9 or 10 deep and he won't have to be out there 35 plus minutes like our guards last season had to do (especially after Grill was hurt).
