Two things I still wonder about (but doubt will ever know the true answer):
“Everybody says these fans are so loyal, right?” Park said. “Like, they were the first ones to turn on me. I got to witness this from a whole other perspective that most of you never get to witness.”
I'm curious what he's exactly talking about. A message board? Personal contact from fans? Twitter? Like others have said, people criticized his play in the Texas game, but nobody turned on Park as a Cyclone. Most wanted him back and even defended him, admitting his ceiling was higher than Kempt due to arm strength. To throw an entire fanbase under the bus like he did without specific examples is baseless, IMO.
Park said speculation of Kempt, a fifth-year senior seeking a sixth season of eligibility, sparked his decision to ask out of his scholarship.
"They're not bringing me back," Park said. "I think that's pretty clear. When I heard that, (that) is when I realized I needed to find somewhere else to go."
He never said that CMC told him they weren't bringing him back, but this quote made him feel like it was inevitable. Was there more to it behind the scenes? Otherwise, this seems like more of a 'mental last straw' than a driving force.
Oh well. I'll echo most everyone else. I hope he turns things around for himself, but I also hope he provides some actual proof before taking another shot at our fan base. In the mean time, I'll cheer like hell for the guys wearing cardinal and gold (and anthracite...and white....)
