Parting shots? WTF? I've seen one parting shot and that was from Jacob Park at fans.

Fales got it backwards. The fanbase doesn't need to be preached to because the great majority of the fanbase has been supportive of Park the whole way. I don't think anyone was actively rooting for him to fail or leave. Based on Birch's report, Park is the one trying to get in a few cheap shots on the way out now. And that's a damn shame. He was fun to watch. Legit NFL arm talent if he can ever put it all together, and I hope he does.

Every now and again, I wish I was signed up for twitter so I could be a twit like Andy. But then my better judgement steps in. I'd love to see who he's chastising here, and whether or not the "parting shots" from the fanbase preceded or followed Jacob's rather unkind remarks about them on his way out the door?

It's sad to see this happen. This is how Park will be remembered.

Obviously he's still a kid and still has some things to sort through in his mind. Hopefully he gets it all straightened out, for his and his family's sake

Being happy with the way Kempt and Noland played is not the same as bashing Park. We had no idea what was going on with him, so most of the time, unless it was a thread specifically about Park, we didn't discuss him.

And even that wasn't because fans didn't care or weren't hoping he was ok. If anything it was because most of us didn't care to speculate about a person''s private life. Man, if he took a respect of his right to privacy as a slight against him or perceived it as the fans turning on him then he has a lot of growing up to do.

Park is welcome back and respected. Fake Fales and his cohorts can get the **** out. Take solace in knowing they make ****.

Wow..not cool dude. Tommy is a good guy and you don't know all that's happened in his life. Easy to judge from the outside..
Assuming the initial article didn't present Park's statements as facts but instead stated that this is what park said, I don't have a problem with how he released the story. And Birch is probably a great guy (I just don't know him so that's why I said probably), and I don't know what's all happened in his life, but I don't think there's really anything there that excuses going to a prostitute.

I understand (at least somewhat) what he is saying about ISU fans letting him down. I've seen a number of 'he overthrows too often' and 'Kyle and Zeb were better' comments on this forum. TO me it was just an uninformed as the 'Glad Paul Rhoads is gone' comments. I was glad to have Jacob Park here. I was glad to see that his team mates apparently 'had his back' all through October and probably November too. I think Jacob is a lot better than Zeb (at least at the beginning of this past season). I believe that Kyle was much more judicious with passing the ball (mostly because of his lesser 'armstrength'). I am sorry that Jacob Park will not be re-joining the team, but it sounds as if he needs to be elsewhere (even if it is not division 1). Good luck to you Jacob Park, I hope to hear that you are leading a successful life in the future.

Even if people were saying "he overthrows too often" and "Kyle and Zeb are better", I don't think that crosses a line. I do think as fans you are allowed to make observations about performance without crossing the line. Especially if that is done in a manner directed at other fans and not directly at the player. Certainly, there are comments people make towards players that cross the line. I have no doubt about that and they are really unfortunate. But having your play critiqued and compared to other players at your position is inevitable and is not, in-and-of-itself, crossing a line.

I thought you were transferring, Jacob?

Two things I still wonder about (but doubt will ever know the true answer):

“Everybody says these fans are so loyal, right?” Park said. “Like, they were the first ones to turn on me. I got to witness this from a whole other perspective that most of you never get to witness.”

I'm curious what he's exactly talking about. A message board? Personal contact from fans? Twitter? Like others have said, people criticized his play in the Texas game, but nobody turned on Park as a Cyclone. Most wanted him back and even defended him, admitting his ceiling was higher than Kempt due to arm strength. To throw an entire fanbase under the bus like he did without specific examples is baseless, IMO.

Park said speculation of Kempt, a fifth-year senior seeking a sixth season of eligibility, sparked his decision to ask out of his scholarship.

"They're not bringing me back," Park said. "I think that's pretty clear. When I heard that, (that) is when I realized I needed to find somewhere else to go."

He never said that CMC told him they weren't bringing him back, but this quote made him feel like it was inevitable. Was there more to it behind the scenes? Otherwise, this seems like more of a 'mental last straw' than a driving force.

Oh well. I'll echo most everyone else. I hope he turns things around for himself, but I also hope he provides some actual proof before taking another shot at our fan base. In the mean time, I'll cheer like hell for the guys wearing cardinal and gold (and anthracite...and white....)

I wasn't going to comment in this thread, but changed my mind when I read this reply. Mirror, people, look in the mirror.

Let me know when Andy has the guts to call out Joel Lanning for the same thing.

Narrator: "He did not have the guts."

Sometimes it's best to just let the story die. Responding to the bellowing's of a tool like Fales ends up looking like you're attacking Park which a huge vast majority did not do.

In the end Park is an emotional kid that fell into a depressed state when he saw Cyclone football flourished w/o him. What he didn't understand is again a huge vast majority of Cyclone fans were rooting for his return and hoped help could be a part of the success.

If I could, I would tell this young man something like this, "Trust the process. When once again life has felt unfair, this time stop and trust. Become part of something larger than self. Maturity is gained by reinvesting your energy in that which you said yes to just a few months earlier. In my experience, the sweetest victory comes through adversity."

I'm pretty sure Warren has had a rough go with his role diminishing but still appreciates the fans support.

Well stated. And holy moly. If anyone on this team should have reason to be upset it would be Mike Warren. He was a 1300 yard rusher as a freshman and got beat out by The Montgomery Express. But all he's done is continue to put in work and be a great teammate.
