Chris Williams replied to a tweet that I sent during the game about benching Lanning with "first "bench the QB" tweet of the season. Football is officially back.... Look you don't have to be a genius to see that Lanning is not the guy. Park even said himself in an interview earlier this year that he came to play not be a back up and that he can make plays outside of the pocket not put his head down and run. Lanning ran backwards into a safety, fumbled a perfect snap, Hakeem Butler made him look great on a high throw and then he proceeded to throw two bad interceptions. UNI was begging to lose that game.... You have nothing to lose by playing Park. That UNI game is the type of game that commits watch and question on if they should come to ISU.

Well if that's the case we should probably start him

Well, thank goodness for the Cyclones.tv issues then, so not many recruits were probably able to watch.

I wondered how long it would take for people to think the QB is the problem and by benching Lanning it would fix our woes. The Cyclone faithful never disappoint.

If we're going to talk about Jacob Park can we take a minute and discuss what the **** is going on with this haircut? It looks like a guy with curly hair is standing directly behind him.

Anyone with a pulse can see that QB is not really the source of our problems. Lanning threw for 250 yards and 3 TDs, with ~65% completion, in a loss. The loss extends beyond him.

Lanning looked like Steele Jantz 2.0 out there. Had some great plays, but also had some brain numbing stupid ones. Maybe he is the best choice ISU has, but you have to get better decision making out of him somehow. The 2 INTs that he threw were on first downs. There was no reason to be pressing that hard. Take what you can get and move on.

Jacob Park was playing a church league two years ago, and then transferred to a JUCO that doesn't even offer football. His last action was in a league where you're out of bounds if you hit the parsonage. The most important read was finding the whole in the defense that was left when someone took a few plays off because the dark meat was almost out of the chicken bucket.

I mean, I don't know, maybe the guy can sling it. But I guess I can't get too pumped about benching a QB with some decent Big 12 experience for a guy whose last action was leading Jacob and the Ladders through the vaunted Presbyterian League.

Who tried telling me they wouldn't have a package for Park? CMC said they wanted to get him in the game last week, and we might see it during Iowa.

True, but you are in denial if you don't think he wasn't a big problem. 2 int, 1 fumble lost, safety given up cause he couldn't read the blitz at all.

Not that it matters but the first INT was on 2nd down.

Never mind the 2 guys that came through the line untouched. I suppose those are his fault too.

Hakeem Butler made him look great on a high throw.
He threw that pass exactly where you want your QB to throw a fade route - where only his guy could get it.

Comparing Lanning to Jantz is an insult to Jantz.

Let me state for the record that I do NOT think that Lanning was the sole reason that Iowa State once again lost to a FCS team. There was bad play all over the place including a ton of penalties that put the offense behind the sticks which led to Lanning having to throw the ball which I believe is not his strong point. I also am aware that it was the first game with a new coach and a new system blah blah blah. I just don't think that he is the guy regardless of it is the first or 5th game. I hope he proves me wrong.

Park will get a few plays a game until they feel like he's ready to replace Lanning. Lanning is at his best when he's running through people, which they don't want their starter to do. He needs to be our "Belldozer or 18 wheeler", not our starting QB.
