It is a no brainer. Looks to have a high upside. Long and athletic. Could definitely help next year.
Shayok's development and success as a sit out transfer is certainly a plus.

ain't legal for him
If he wasn’t Obi’s brother or had Kentucky and Oregon after him I know exactly how’d I’d feel about this one but I just want us to land somebody and he seems like he has a ton of potential.
or had Kentucky and Oregon after him .
@MatthewBain_ Iowa State just completed a virtual visit (Zoom call) with Rhode Island transfer Jacob Toppin, his mother tells me. Toppin, younger brother of Dayton's Obi Toppin, has narrowed his choices to Iowa State, Oregon and Kentucky.
Cyclones assistant James Kane coached Obi at Dayton.
You ever have any fun?this is exactly the kind of transfer I figured Prohm would be able to go out and get.... a very average player at best.
You ever have any fun?
Yes, lots of fun. Just not anything related to ISU basketball for a while unfortunately. This program is in real dire shape folks. Face reality at some point.
I get it, but if we beat out Kentucky and Oregon for a player, you should be pretty happy about that. They want him for a reason.Yes, lots of fun. Just not anything related to ISU basketball for a while unfortunately. This program is in real dire shape folks. Face reality at some point.

In the, “it probably means nothing but I’ll say it anyways” news, CycloneMBB on Instagram only follows 54 people. They are all current players, former players, other basketball programs or staff members. The one exception? Jacob Toppin.

Who the hell, is Tobbin?Nice find.
IF Tobbin does pick ISU by this weekend I think we can assume Kane held the puppet strings on the deal.
And I will enjoy Iowa fans reaction to ISU beating UK on a recruit and seeing Tobbin dunking on their slow lumbering center in 2 years. Revenge for the hate they directed at Obi.
Oh and them saying that neither Oregon/UK offers were commitable, which will be coming.
