Too late for that.
Kinda like how if someone starts off saying "I'm not racist, but..." theyre about to say something racist?

Looks a little slow. Hopefully will be a solid contributor.
Name one in the past 10 yearsAlways good to grab a central Iowa guy, especially with ISU ties. He's a wait and see guy, IMO. Doesn't jump out on video and Dowling and Valley guys haven't translated to Big 12 talent in the past. Hopefully he's more Jake Knott and less Trent Flander.
Agree on the current ranking. However I look at it like a GPA. Easier to keep it high once it's there than to bring it back up after you've tanked it. Plus it's something they can sell on the trail to other guys.

"haven't translated to Big 12 talent in the past"I can think of two without much thought Jake McDonough & Kirby Van Der Kamp.

Jake williams, Jake McDonough, Jake Campos. Another Jake from des Moines sounds good to me.
Isn't Piersbacher that starts for Alabama a Dowling kid too?

Let's pump the brakes.I called this top 25 class months ago. Don't know much about Hummel but glad he is on board. I think this class will end up around #21 or #22 when it's all said and done. Getting Kam White has to be out next priority.
It's unbelievable how much better at just about everything this staff is than Paul's. I understand they haven't won any games yet, but Paul's barely did anyway.
Uh, I guess I don't get it. By 247 our current class is ranked, what, 28th? Does this not matter? I'm serious when I ask this question, I don't want to don the rose-colored glasses. What is it you're saying, when comparing past recruiting finishes with where we are today?247 Ave rating 2017-83.43 2015-82.17 2014-82.49 2013-82.2

So yeah, it's better but we probably should act like they've drastically changed the talent level being brought in (according to rankings) at this point. They also haven't taken any flyers yet and I promise you they will. I know I'll be called a Debbie Downer for this but the reality is that their recruiting is as good as their evaluation and right now, it's impossible to know how good they are at that. At those rating points, it's all about evaluation. Prospects rated in that 78-88 range aren't sure things and it's about finding the ones who are actually going to contribute.
This staff has done everything right and expecting more would be asinine at this point, but at the same time, reality is that they are a little bit better based off rankings and even offers.
