Sounds like a good opportunity for the Cyclone community (read: staff) to reach out to a falling brother. Surely there's a place for Jake in football in some capacity.
It would be nice if the football program would cease relations with him. No more sideline passes right after getting kicked out of the league for PEDs.
Embarrassment.
I think opiate addiction would be more consistent with theft. Dude played through some serious pain. I'm sure he got some potent prescriptions.
I'm about 99% sure most of what you said is wrong. I will agree though, there are other things that can cause it other than football, but football puts someone at possibly the highest risk.
I have no idea what is going on with Jake but I do know this is extremely out of character for the man who used to wear the Cardinal and Gold. To this day, Jake is one of the most standup young men I have ever been around at Iowa State.
For one reason or another, he is making bad decisions and going through a rough time. I just hope and pray that he gets help he needs and can recover from all of this. I too worry about those three letters and pray this is not the case.
Instead of judging him, my hope is that some influential members of the Cyclone Nation reach out to show Jake we are still very much rooting for him in life after football.
Obviously something is wrong and he should not be embarrassed to admit that. He needs help, whether that be rehab or therapy or whatver, hopefully he seeks it out.
He won't go to therapy or rehab. He's parents have tried to get him to go for his pain killer addiction after he stole thousands of dollars from a former roommate he had to pay for pain killers, and he refuses to go

If you are close enough to the family to have this "inside info", then you should be close enough to the family to not be piling on.He won't go to therapy or rehab.
