This summer on Marty n Miller, they had Jake on at the Bud tent. He wasnt a invited guest though. The "dirty ol' men" happened to "notice" his wife and said "hey... thats Jake Sullivan, come on the show".
They mustve told him 3 or 4 times how hot his wife was.

At the ISU/FSU game @ Arrowhead, we were tailgating & Jake came strolling by... so we invited him over, along with his then gf.... My buddy was like damn Jake your gf is hot, man what I'd give to be you for a night....

I said dude shut the f up & be a little respectful..... then we all laughed, well except for Jake... he decided to keep walkin...

Hard also to say that Jake was a better shooter than Hoiberg. Willoughby was something special too, I think it took Jake all four years to break what Willoughby did in 2.
I'd almost take Willoughby over all of them. Not only did he have a silky smooth jumper but he had the mentality and ability to put the DAGGER into your heart. He was absolutely the master of killing the other team's momentum. Do you guys remember how many times the other team would get a three or something to cut into a lead and DW would sprint down the court and swish one to take it right back. That man had GIANT BALLS.

Jake is probably one of my all-time favorite Cyclones. If I have a son some day I'd love to show him video of Jake's playing days and tell him that's how you shoot! Jake had one of the purest shooting touches I have ever seen and when he missed a free throwi it was a shock because he was about a 90% FT shooter. Anyone saying SC is better should take a look at what Jake did at ISU: Jake Sullivan Stats - Iowa State Cyclones - College Basketball

SC is probably faster and more athletic but Jake was a big time shooter and he was much more consistent. And like someone else pointed out, Jake was a gym rat. I saw him at the rec several times too working on trying to get his shot off quicker from differnt parts of the court. That was his biggest downfall his freshman year was he had to have time to get his shot off but he worked really hard at being able to get his shot off quicker while still having that pretty looking stroke.

SC has also been either sick or hurt for a lot of his career. Hopefully he can get healthy this year and next year he can be healthy for the whole thing.

Jake was lights out at Hilton and on the road his freshman year. Something happened and after his freshman year, he couldn't hit the deep ball on the road to save his life. I always wondered what happened.

I think that some people have a bad taste in their mouths about Jake for whatever reasons over the last few years. He was amazing, one of my favorite cyclones of all time.

Agreed. Jake the Cyclone will always be one of me favorites. Jake the person recently, not so much.

Almost? DW was way better than Scott or Jake.

I would definitely take DW also, but he was a pure scorer. His shooting percentage was not great.

EDIT: May have been better than I remember.

He was asked to do much more than just shoot. Not to mention that he was clutch and when he was on he couldn't be stopped.

It isn't enough to say he had ice water in his veins. In his case I think it was liquid oxygen.

Hey, I think he was great and would take him over JS and SC right now, but he was a great scorer and clutch as you say, not a pure shooter.

EDIT: Here are the stats. His 3pt% from senior year stands out, but not great overall. Still was a great player.

Willoughby was like the Energizer Bunny...the guy kept going and going and going. I never, ever saw this guy get tired.

I would agree. I still have a man-crush on that guy. He had a cup of coffee with the Bulls so it's pretty obvious that he was a talent. He had hamstring issues that may have cost him a better career.

I worked with Janel (Jake's wife) at O'Malley's during college. She was one of the sweetest and prettiest girls (the pic on that blog doesn't do her justice at all) I ever met at college. Very grounded/humble girl in her attitude. Never came off as a jersey chaser to me... perhaps she was in H.S. to a degree, but Jake was the only guy she dated in college. She met Jake the day she moved into her dorm at ISU. It was just her and her mom moving in so Jake offered to help and they hit it off. I'm glad they're married and still together.

And for my money, Dedric and Hoiberg would top my list. Jake was very streaky and when he was on it was a thing of beauty. He really benefited from Tinsley breaking down D's and kicking out to him or Fizer kicking back out on double teams. Scotty is quickly coming up the list for me as a shooter. I'd probably put him almost on the level with Jake as of now. SC sure has come up big in two tough games this season. Hope he can get healthy and shoot us to some more wins this season. His shooting form is elite.
