I live 2 hours away from most ISU Gridiron club events, yet still pay yearly dues since its' inception. I've been to only 2-3 Gridiron events total in all those years. I consider my dues a donation--to support the FB team. I know my $$ goes directly to the FB program---and I'm happy about that.

The fans b#tching about a refund for last night's game need to settle the fk down. This is new territory and a tough call for Pollard to make. He feels horrible that weather dictated this cancelation. The last time this happened was 55 years ago (after JFK was assassinated)

I'm sure Jamie isn't out to screw over ISU fans w/ the refund policy that doesn't exist yet for this weekend

Adding to that point Iowa state still paid SDSU I believe. Pretty sure I heard that somewhere. JP isn’t calling them saying sorry I want a refund

I love how much they hate JP. It's a great indicator of ISU AD job performance.

I have no clue who Iowa's AD even is right now.

I agree who cares who the AD at Choke Eye Land is anyway....reminds me of the recent AD at Nebbie....the beat writers couldnt write anything the guy said because he was like a Howard Hughes Recluse....LOL ....Nebbie finally got smart and Fired the deadbeat

What contingency were you looking for for a situation that hadn't happened at ISU since the mid-1960s? Most of us weren't even alive the last time this happened at ISU. Hell - my dad himself was only 10 years old.

Sorry (not sorry) to burst your bubble, but you don't make contingency plans for things that happen once every 50 years.

I agree with your post 100%......I am old enough to remember Friday Nov 22,1963 and the Kennedy Assassination ....I was just out of high school .......Very Sad time for our country.....Go Cyclones

Ok is this really the confusion here? No you don’t do this for every game. Yesterday was a weird weather setup. It is all situational and dependent. We probably won’t have to worry about this for many years to come. The issue is that they didn’t seem to have explored any possibilities if we had the worst case scenario like we did. Again the issue is they didn’t even pretend to have a plan.

I also am not real sure how logistically our current situation is easier to deal with. Now we have to figure out potentially a past minute game. We will also have to figure out tickets for that or if we don’t have another game maybe refunds. I’d much rather plan to get some sort of game in than deal with our current headache.
No, you need to worry about it every year going forward because you don't plan for contingencies right before the event occurs, you do it far in advance. This means you're doing it before you can forcast the weather on gameday (and I guess we're also ignoring that plenty of forecasts on gameday showed weather would be fine for most/all of the game). So Iowa State would need to plan contingencies for between 2-4 games each season: contingencies for the first 1-2 games being cancelled due to thunderstorms, and the last 1-2 games being cancelled due to freak blizzards. And the cost of planning for these contingencies will quickly outweigh benefits you get from planning for those freak occurrences.

Say you're a parent, your kid's birthday is April 9th and they want an outdoor birthday party. You make that plan as well as have a back up in case it's unusually warm or cool or if it's raining. Do you plan for what happens if there's a freak blizzard which will dump between 14-20 inches? Probably not because the chance is so remote and the costs of making those plans outweigh the benefits of planning for it. Is it foreseeable that Iowa could be hit with a blizzard in early April? Sure. Does that mean you failed if that blizzard does happen and you need to cancel the party and reschedule? No, of course not.
