I know any discussion can quickly turn to the fair debates about NIL, how it was rolled out, how others do it, critiques about college sports, etc.
BUT, i truly do appreciate that Brent is navigating those ever changing waters and literally made it his career at this point....so this IS his livelihood.
One thing he does EXTREMELY well is walk the fine line between Iowa State needs a lot more money to even begin to compete with the smallest of schools and the money that we do have is making a difference. I can’t imagine that is easy.
Correct. As he LITERALLY is the expert on ISU's NIL situation and the insights on what that looks like locally AND against peers.
One of my best friends and i argue all the time about this. He is old school "a kid makes a commitment, they should stick it out" and I try to explain the nuance of this (as it IS the new landscape in college sports...and of course we all could probably agree that had stuff happened 10 years ago slowly we'd be in a different spot...same with conferences....he says the same argument that regarding coaches..not getting that if our budget is X and big 10 is X+15million, that will make it more difficult).
I don't know Brent personally, but all i've seen/heard based on his experiences is he "gets it" in terms of ISU culture, business/fundraising, and staying up with changing trends.

I will say that I have sent a couple emails to Brent and he's gotten back to me right away.. And I would likely be in the lowest tier of donor to We Will
I don’t envy Brent’s job dealing with all these negative nancies and Debbie downers we have. Blum announces we raised almost a half a million dollars to stay competitive and homies first thought is to whine about it? Insane
