If we had a decent o-line this year, we would have won 2-3 more games. WVU, Baylor, OU and Clemson were all able to manhandle our o-line.
How the heck did WVU beat us they looked like crap against Minnesota! Their QB looked mediocre at best! Couldn’t believe our defense played that bad against them!

Kid is and will be an absolute stud!
Question is can we keep him and the other young guys that are good but the blue bloods didn’t know them out of high school. It’s now looking like the non blue bloods will be the g-league for the big boys. This transfer crap is annoying me right now.

At most you could say that ISU lost one player this year due to what you're describing with Isheem Young, and he was losing snaps to Freyler as the year went on anyway. I'm not convinced anyone else who left would have been more than depth pieces and with recent recruiting classes getting better and better, they may all have just been seeing the writing on the wall for their playing time.

I do agree that that could be where we're heading, but it's not really happening, yet.

He doesn’t have “deceptive speed”.
Looks like he was pushing to hit 11 flat in the 100m and was a consistent 6’2 plus high jumper. It’s not great top end, but at his height it is clear he’s got good acceleration and explosion. That’s what it’s all about in the slot. Not to mention he looks like his top end has improved. If you look fast against Clemson, you are fast. Deshaunte was a really good slot guy but was considerably less explosive than Noel. He just knew how to play the position.

Let us not forget we had Kene.

Part of a great return man, is the other 10 have a purpose out there as well. Not to take up space, but to make space.
You're right, Kene was terrific. But did he return punts? I don't think he ever did?

Seems like so many kickoffs go for touchbacks anymore that an elite kick returner isn't such an advantage. But having a good punt returner - one who makes good decisions on when/when not to field it or fair catch it, always fields it cleanly, and is capable of making the first couple guys miss - is still a major asset.

Rose didn't play. Their offense was on fire but we definitely win if Rose played.

We had a decent OL this year. We just didn’t have a great one.

How quickly some of you folks forget how mediocre the OL was even just a couple of years ago never fails to amaze me.

(and before that, it was even worse)

Thinking about Lazard, Butler, and Murdock.

Then Ryen was also very good along with Eaton and Jones.

Not sure who officially started but for most talent together ISU imo hasn't seen better.
yep, 2017 we had an awesome wr group, probably the best the school has ever had.

When you compare the same personnel from 2020 to 2021 it was a couple steps below. The only games where they stood out was OSU and Iowa.

Thought they did a nice job vs. TCU and there was a nice push vs. Clemson particularly on the right side.

Down and distance situations likely affected it but not rushing more really was too bad.
