Why are you facebook friends with someone in high-school who you don't know personally?

Wow, you guys have completely overreacted to this. The OP came on here in an attempt to share the fact that one of our future players is doing something positive in his community, and all you can do is bash him for adding the future player on Facebook....ridiculous.

I am glad Jeremiah is doing positive things and reaching out, I'm just saying in general lately there have been alot of posts about various people's facebook statuses. I am entitled to my opinion and i'm not sure everyone wants there facebook statues posted on message boards to be picked apart. EX. i read in the dendy thread the other day where people were saying he is leaving because of a status and then he had to update another status just to explain himself. I just feel the status thing is the real ridiculous thing. with all of that said, it is a great thing what Jeremiah is doing for the kids, he seems like a positive kid and a great role model, I REALLY hope he sees the field this year because it seems like he deserves it.

+1 Let's not forget we live in the Twitter age where people's statuses are there to look at 24/7. FB is a public forum. To me it is no different than reading someone's status that you went to HS with that you have no intention of ever seeing or talking to again. I'd say 90% of my friends on FB are just people from my past that mean relatively nothing to me.
I've added recruits to FB in the past stating I'm an ISU fan and welcome aboard.
That being said, I delete them as a friend after saying "Welcome". I really have no interest in being "friends" with them. Just want to give ISU fans a good name, let the players know we appreciate them CHOOSING Iowa State. JG sounds like he cares about things other than football, so he's cool with me.

I also sent a few messages back and forth with Jon Vilma about 2-3 years back. Just said I really liked him at The U and wish him well. He responded quite a few times just talking Hurricane football and how he was doing with the Jets. Super cool gesture to take time out to chat with a fan!!!

I don't see anything wrong with checking a FB status. That is what they are there for. Kinda like sitting outside a 1st story bedroom window, it's there for a reason right?:jimlad:
