When I was in high school back in the 1980s, everyone in central Iowa made fun of Boone and Gilbert. A lot of it related to the high schools and sports. Gilbert has changed its demographics with adding the Ames suburbs. Boone hasn't really changed much.

I've biked through Boone a few times. Did Water Tower Hill. Man, that's a killer hill. One time, I saw a kid playing basketball in a park there. I don't think he was on the Cyclone men's team, though.
