Brock will learn patience, he is still pretty inexperienced at the P5 level being the primary back.

Iowa has always been hard to score on in the red zone. They are extremely good fundamentally as a unit, and are usually pretty athletic making the windows small.

We made so many costly mistakes that held us to only 10 points and we can only hope they learn from this game. But I believe we just played the best special teams and defense we will face this year.

On to Ohio.

Watched Baylor against BYU, they have some issues on offense also.
Best ST, but we’ll face several better defenses.

We cannot have such self-inflicted errors in the Big 12

Yea I’m thinking of Sanders gets a crease which he really hasn’t yet, look out.

I mentioned it in another thread and I can't remember the term but his ability to 'glide' for another 4-5 yards at below waist level in traffic is pretty great.

The Oline graded out on some site well last week and to see this sort of traction this early in the season is very encouraging.

Jirehl has waited his turn and has made the most out of his first two games out of the gate this year. He's a solid all around back and we don't have to worry about the RB position.
I have watched the replay and Jirehl had a great game running, receiving and blocking against a way above average defense. The offensive line had a very good game. CMC still has a lot of good coaching film to work on and make this team even better.

Iowa is really tough to score on when the field is compressed

I can't count the amount of times when I've tuned into an Iowa game and the opponent gets a 1st and goal at the 5, gets to the goal line and Iowa wins it like a tackle drill battle in space to do just enough to not let the ball cross.

ISU needs to be better, but there was nothing surprising about them having to scrap for yards.

Brock is a stud. Against an elite defense to do what he did is exciting. He is the most improved Cyclone. He reminds me a little like Dexter Green.

So nice to see a kid get his reward. I hope he gets his chance in the NFL and all that. But after his playing days are over he would be somebody I would want to hire just for the way he's handled his situation. It would have been easy for him to transfer with the portal and all. But it seems like he's smart and saw it through. So many kids have made mistakes going into the portal. So many aren't playing anymore and aren't getting an education.

Brock was excellent yesterday. I take nothing away from him and the goal line fumble was not totally on him. But I couldn’t help thinking how nice it would’ve been to have Norton inside the 5. Really excited about the Brock/Norton combo.
The fumble I actually somewhat blame jared Rus because Rus's elbow went into the ball on that play.

For the RB room:
- J Brock this is his season and he has earned the position of bell cow/primary back
- Eli Sanders - he seems so close to breaking a big one and hope it comes soon, love his speed but want to see more before I assess him. He's still young.
- Norton: the heir apparent it seems if he continues to flash and impress. It's clear had he not been injured as a senior in high school he probably has more big dogs calling him. Want him to really get healthy as I'm not sure we need him this year. Get him in the weight room and get him stronger. If we can use him up to 4 games great, but I wouldn't burn the shirt on him.
- Silas: love the guy but it seems he's an odd man out

Several? Doubt it, very much.

Texas won’t play like they did against Bama again. Baylor isn’t better. Neither is KState. OU hasn’t impressed me. Oklahoma State dropped off big time. Not sure who else is on your list.

Just curious, which big12 defenses are you most expecting to be better. OU, TX?
Texas, Baylor, KSU. Likely a couple more with better talent.

Iowa is well coached and good at limiting snap count.

We’ll have to get better from the OC and Dekkers to have a chance in the Big 12. We scoreboard watch in this game, plus just make ridiculous mental mistakes
