I also thought Higgins put it to us most of the day, starting with the first call of the game when he about threw his arm out calling a charge on ISU. The last 5 seconds or so I thought the Creighton kid clearly charged, and the last call with just under 2 seconds Higgins quickly raised his hand to bail out the Creighton kid launching the desperation shot. Refs rarely make that call in the closing seconds even if there is a little contact, and I saw no contact by the ISU player as the Creighton kid flopped. I call him blondie and I'd just as soon not see him do another ISU game.

Is it just me or does Higgins never grant Iowa State ANY breaks when he refs. Like this weekend he was blowing his whistle before any fouls were happening when we were in the final minute of the game, he made bad calls all day, I have noticed this as well in other games..... I dont know what he has against Iowa State but he does not like us. is it just me noticing? Thoughts?

Lost in all of this is that Higgins was the one who called the final shot good.

Also, after the game both coaches said what a great job the refs did - was that just coach speak because there were many calls I questioned.

John Higgins was at the infamous game at UNI when Wayne and McD got into their shouting match. Higgins had all the players rounded up telling them he wasn't taking anymore BS. I also remember back in '02 Pete Taylor had a good line when Higgins and the other two refs were indecisive on a call: "C'mon John Higgins...make a call!" That was classic Pete!
