Fact is Harris chose to leave Iowa State. Seeley is still at Iowa State and by all accounts he was ahead of Harris during the spring. Good for him, I am sure that was the result of a lot of hard work and I have no doubt that Seeley is working his butt off to be ready in the fall. This is the guy I am going to support, not the guy that chose to leave.

Agree. Seeley and Harris both graduated from Iowa State. Both could have gone the graduate transfer route. Seeley chose to stay.

Given the Cowboys draft this year, I do not think it likely that Irving starts this year at DE or DT, however he does have a good chance to be a solid rotation guy at both positions. They like him and he is talented enough to get on the field for 15 to 20 plays a game.

Trust me, he's going to start at DE week 1. The defensive coordinator absolutely loves him down in Dallas. He has everything you look for in a NFL DE.

The only possible reason that he may start week 1 (and I doubt he actually does) is because both of Dallas' starting DE's are suspended for the first 4 games of the season. Yes, they like Irving, but last year he played more snaps at DT than DE and they just drafted a BETTER DE in Charles Tapper from OU in the 4th round. Irving will not be a consistent starter this year for Dallas, if one at all, at any time. I do not trust you at all.

Whose accounts had him behind Seeley? I'm sorry, Kane Seeley has never even looked good enough to be a backup at UNI. If he is starting for ISU we are going to give up 200 rushing yards a game. Harris was limited but he looked like he could play Big 12 ball. Seeley has never shown that. If Seeley was ahead it's because they knew Harris was gone.

Seely wasn't ever going to play ahead of Harris. People read too much into coaches tactics of listing certain players lower to motive them. They have no intention of them still being lower when games start.

Lol. Your location says you are in Dallas yet you think Tapper will start over Irving at DE? You must not pay attention to the Cowboys much.

While I think you could be correct, I'm just going to agree with what The cyclone scoop said.

Harris likes to be a linebacker that rushed and tackled. He struggles with the 4-3 because the linebacker in that scheme needs to be a general, he would've had to call out schemes and help move around people. he struggles with that so when they switched to a 3-4 he excelled. Harris enjoyed running at the ball and hitting the ball carrier.

harris said that the 3-4 involved less thinking and he could do what he does best which is hitting people. when the new staff switch out of the 3-4 they required Harris to go back to a linebacker that barks out orders and reads the offense. He struggled and the staff started to experiment with other linebackers.

like the cyclone scoop said if he was the starter he wasn't going to transfer.

I say that only to illustrate the point that David Irving is not the new cornerstone of the Cowboys defense. Tapper is a rookie that likely will have a chance to play as a speed rusher, but also likely will not be a starter his rookie year.

As for Irving, he is only getting serious time due to the injuries and suspensions on the Dallas DL. He is a good player and yes, they do like him, but you make it seem as though he is one of their best D lineman which is just not accurate. Again, if Irving starts its only because Dallas is missing its top 3 DE's to suspension and injury. Its not because Irving is has magically transitioned from a rotation player to starter material.

I think you mean typically is, not always. Not every 4-3 is the same, not every 3-4 is the same.
