When is the last day to declare 'free agency' (sic) transfer for football (and BB)?

And then when does it start again? Just after each sports respective season is over?

I want to know when my heart can have a break.

In order to be eligible for Fall 22 a athlete has to be in the portal by today. Anyone entering the portal after today will not be eligible for Fall 22 unless granted a waiver.

So the good news is that this is probably the end of the bleeding anyway.

What the hell? How many safeties is that now? Isheem, McDonald, Morgan, King, Amos, Edwards... plus 3 corners. 9 DBs... McDonald was most likely a starter this year. Isheem and King were starters last year. This is very odd.
You listed…(counting)…four guys who were totally blocked from starting, and had been recruited over. Isheem Young, who was either beaten out by Freyler or looking for NIL money (Ole Miss suggests both). Oh, and Antoine also counts as a safety, because he’d also been passed by the corners and moved.

None of them are really a huge surprise except for McDonald, and I expect some day we’ll get the rest of the story.

Of course, it may be twenty years from now, like when a certain linebacker didn’t actually get a broken jaw from tripping over his cleats or whatever.

But if you want to do the “conspiracy theory” thing, just say that for most of them Broomfield is clearing out the safety room to make room for his gu—er, better recruits.

Though that wouldn’t seem to apply to McDonald.

I'm not good at Wheel of Fortune so forgive me but what's the rest of 'gu-'?

With a 'no rules anything goes policy', it is a no rules anything goes policy.

Part of the reason there should be rules is that they can actually be set up (insert shocked emoji) to protect the athletes.

For example - Aric Horne's landing spot was Florida A&M. If he actually thought there was a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow somewhere, or thought he'd land at some Auburn type school with cash, he got burned. Now if the coaches told him there wouldn't be playing time then that is different, but I don't think that's what happened with him. It's also what I don't think happened with Craig McDonald.

Let's hope Malik Verdon is ready at safety, b/c Freyler and Johnson are very good.
Get your point.

In my opinion, the vast majority of guys that left ISU did it because they want to play, not searching for money. Most will probably go to a lower league to find PT. Guys returning for an extra “Covid year” impacted the departures.

In Horne’s case I think the return of a 5th year LB and Reader coming are why he left. I have no idea what the coaches told him, but I think he could see his playing career was getting short if he wants to hit the field. JMHO.

My guess is McDonald left for NIL ongoing opportunity $, not a big signing bonus. ( if it was $ at all )

I agree. It's a playing time issue for almost all of the players. Isheem Young got paid, although at the very least, Freyler was going to eat into his snaps this year. McDonald, I'm guessing PJ Fleck has been in his ear. Morgan was going to see snaps, but his chances of starting were pretty low and got lower once it was known that Thompson was signing. My prediction is that McDonald ends up at Minnesota and Morgan ends up at somewhere like a UTSA or UTEP or North Texas.

I’m not sure why people didn’t understand this.
