Josh Davis

How can we be sure some of these other transfers weren't encouraged by Fred himself? It stinks at first, but it is better for the kid if he truly wants to play to know right away than a year or two down the road. Its D-1 athletics and its about winning. I hope Fred doesn't do this, but if it means winning more I will take it. I just don't want to know about it.

since he signed though wouldn't he be guaranteed a year. If I remember correctly the scholly is in the signed letter of intent....that you agree to have a copy of mine somewhere but I played naia ball so may be different.

It is a signed financial aid agreement I believe. I could be wrong.

So far, Hoiberg hasn't screwed anyone. And he even came up with a scholarship for Bubu. I think recruits and current players can trust what he says.

How do we know that? How do we know that Hoiberg hasn't encouraged any of the players who have transfered away to transfer?

I dont consider that screwing the player at all. If you don't see your player getting playing time in the future, it might be better to let it be known to the player

Even though these guys signed LOI, there is a chance they might not be able to qualify. Until we know more, no sense is speculating who it may be, only that if Fred is persuing transfers, then there must be someone currently set to receive a scholarship, will not have one.

I really, really want this guy. It sucks that we would have to pull an offer/have someone transfer, but I trust that Fred has a handle on it. In the words of Dan Hawkins, "This ain't intramurals, brother."

My guess is either Edozie or Bluford won't make it to Ames. I hate to speculate like that, but that's just a gut feeling.

Of course, that assumes Davis actually comes here. I'm trying not to get my hopes up because I think he will end up somewhere else.
We don't seem to have an offer to pull. A letter of intent Guarentees a scholly for a year

I am starting to love this transfer thing. Its like NFL free agency. Yes you want your team to build through the draft but a few surprises during transfer/free agency season and you are looking salty again.

You have to push kids out that are able to produce. All the big schools do it. It also gives kids a chance to go somewhere and get an opportunity.

Push kids out that are able to produce?!!! No. That was McDoormat!

Wait a minute. In the other thread you said you would rather have Davis. In this thread you aren't impressed with him. Is there anyone you like?

You are great at this 5 minute evaluation thing, by the way.

My bad. I was talking about Daniel Ez. in this thread. Wrong thread.

I don't think Fred will be pushing someone out or renig on a signed recruit.

I absolutely think Fred would push someone out for a big time transfer. This ain't intramurals brother. I think Railey got the hint a few years ago, wouldn't be surprised if Okoro ends up the odd man out.

I'll bet that each player knows where they stand with Coach Hoiberg. And this surely includes an opportunity to prove that they deserve more. Just look at how he has let players play (or sit) through their stuff.

A lot of guys end up in junior college because of their poor classroom grades. Maybe some of the juco recruits have to wait and see how their grades turn out before they find out if they can even enroll in a D1 school.

I would love to have an impact big for more than one year. I really do like Josh Davis, and I think he would flourish in Coach Hoiberg's offense. But we got to set our sights on a big man long term.

But if Davis can produce next year while the staff gets a quality big man in next years class, what's the harm?

FWIW- I am late to this but I thought I would share what I read tonight. The feeling of many recruiting boards out east is that Davis returns to NC State for one year making this a very unusual return home. However, there is an ACC recruiting insider on a Wake Forest board who indicates Davis will NOT return to NC State. Many think he knows his stuff so we will see. Davis did visit today NC State today from everything I could gather. He grew up in Raleigh so a visit is not out of the question. The post on the Pitt 247 board was shot down by the moderator on that site.
