I'm really hoping Lenz can become Iowa State's version of TJ Moe. They are the same height and look to be similar athletes. A Wes Welker type player. Really good guy for the underneath routes and finding space in a defense. We need a guy like Moe as it has to be nice for Gabbert to know he always has a guy to go to.

Moe catches everythig thrown his way. EVERYTHING! We need a receiver like him. Lenz could be that guy but even Lenz had the dropsies this season.

Clone85 - no diagreement from me, although someone could contend we need more of a Gabbert then a Moe type of player....

If we have one guy in our mix that can deliver a nice sharp pass with heat, on the money, or read a defense and come off a primary when 4 guys are covering him, then i will bet that we will suddenly have better WR play....

But im with ya, Lenz=Moe would be sweet for ISU!!!!

Don't get me wrong, Moe is not Moe without Gabbert. I get that. We just need somebody who catches everything and knows how to find the holes underneath a defense. Somebody that the QB trusts and they are always on the same page. I think Lenz can be that guy

Lenz certainly was one of our most improved players, both improved from last year and the beginning to end of this year.

Early in the year I was wondering why he was back there on punts and figured we had to have a better weapon to use. He proved me wrong for sure both as a return man and receiver.

Lenz should be on the field more. I felt he didn't get enough PT last season - but I don't think that will be a problem this fall.

Lenz is my favorite returning receiver for next year. Outside of the Mizzou game, he was pretty sure handed. His catch against Texas was beautiful. Happened right in front of the ISU section. AA put where only Lenz could get it, and he went up and reeled it in. Not sure if anyone other than Franklin would have made that play.

Absolutely. That play against Texas illustrated the athleticism that Lenz brings to the field. He saw more time at receiver as the season wore on and he completely deserved it. I definitely expect him to be our slot guy next year.

Who gets the playing time at WR and TE?

Is Hammer really that good of a receiver? I feel like we would be better off with the two guys we got last year.

Howard was a blocking TE. I have no idea what his receieving skills are like right now. If we have to have a receiever out there it might be Richardsen.

Good question. Here's my guess at the depth Chart

TE-Hammer/Howard, Richardsen
WR-Reynolds, Blanton,
WR-Darks, Jennert
WR-Lenz, Gary

I think I have to wait for spring ball before I can decide who I would project for those positions - havent seen enough of them to know yet.
