Generalize much? I think we can acknowledge that Jamie has done a lot of great things over the years but sometimes he gets cheap and conservative and it can be frustrating. That’s an okay opinion to have. It’s okay to be disappointed when something gets cut back and vent here a little bit. That’s what a random message board is for.

Would you rather our athletic department be in the red even more? FY 2023, we were $8.4M in the red.

JP may be a tight ass, but it's for good ******* reason.

K State is running $3M in the red. Kansas is running $4M in the red for reference.

"People like you" - love that line. Typical response from a typical keyboard warrior. I'm not in the minority with being disappointed with this decision. Jamie has done some good things for Iowa State but to say the guy is not deserving of any hint of criticism is laughable.
Says the keyboard warrior criticizing the AD for making tough financial decisions in a time of huge financial unknowns while offering no ideas on how to compensate said issues. Put your money where your mouth is or shut the **** up Jonny.

I don't think there is anyone on this board that would not love to have a stadium, amenities, money etc. of somewhere like Alabama. That being said, some of us are realistic in our expectations, and realize we can only do so much with our current situation. Most of us realize Pollard has done a great job of advancing the facilities and sports with what he has had. Is he perfect, No, but noone is. Do I agree with every single decision, also no, but I understand he has a lot more information and a lot more knowledge on what is needed and what is feasible.

Some on here almost take it personal when people disagree with them or provide information as to why something is done or not done.

Would I love to see JTS have all the amenities that everyone wants, Giant Skybox, Fancy Seats, Bowled NEZ, etc ABSOLUTELY. But at the same time I understand what those kind of things require and how well we meet or don't meet said requirements.

We all can make personal lists of wants, and in the end who doesn't want the best of everything. But you cant have champagne and caviar on a hot dog and beer budget. And you can't be mad at Pollard for not building those things when he has no money to do so. If your bank account has $100 in it you can't go out and spend $1,000 on something you want. He is in the same boat.

And this is not being on a high horse it's just stating the way it is, and why some of us may have different opinions and while we may be disappointed in one of Pollards decisions we also understand why he made those decisions.

That’s good to hear. I’ve been wanting to display my virtue signaling by waving to some sick kids. Hopefully they’ll put a big window by the waiting room.
Maybe we could start a new tradition at the Baylor game. At the end of the 1st quarter, we could all stand, face the College of Veterinary Medicine's animal hospital, and say over and over "Ohhh.... who's a good boy?"

North 2011, south 2015.
Yeah, at 14 years (by the time installed summer 2025) the north is really past end of life and at 10 years the south is probably at end of life. Even if they had to scale it back it is probably wise to capture any savings by having the same contractor provide and install both of them at the same time. Economies of scale and all...

It probably makes sense to have the bigger board on the north side anyway. More people are looking at that board to begin with since the south endzone all faces that way and maybe it's just habit since the north one was there first but I always look north first and I sit near the middle of the upper deck.

I do too when sitting with my brother in the middle of the upper deck. When sitting in my seats in the SW corner I usually look at the North board but look at the south one when I want to see detail of a replay. Proximity and not having the sun shining on it is an advantage of the south board in that case.

I think it's more natural to look at the north scoreboard... considering that is where the band is, the player's tunnel, the main entrance/exit...

Winner Winner pay for your dinner!
Now if you could get half of this country to open their eyes to this common sense approach instead of thinking they're entitled to whatever someone else has perhaps this country could get back on track.
Great Post!

Really? No ****, Sherlock. We’re all Iowa State fans, we all know full well the challenges of funding. Get off your high horse and realize it’s okay to be disappointed about a project that was spec’d, bid and awarded (yes, awarded) less than a year ago getting cut back. Is it the end of the world? No. But JP is not infallible just because he’s done lots of great things.

It’s one complaint about one project. The raging defensiveness about criticism of one decision from a few posters here is weird as ****.
Just make the donation needed for the video board and he will do it I’m sure. Unfortunately he had to find millions of dollars not budgeted for so plans had to change for multiple projects.

Maybe I’m weird and the only person who wonders about this stuff, but…

It looks to me like the B level waterway is greening up, but the A level, closest to the camera, isn’t whatsoever?

That and they did a little work on it late last week (closest to the camera), but didn’t reseed. Are they going to do some late sodding?

It seems odd to me to leave it like this over the winter. Especially if the existing seed hasn’t germinated by now. Having to rework eroded soil in April seems…more expensive than it needs to be.

They have reworked a lot of the soil while it looked like they were working on a drainage issue in that basin. The further one hasnt been touched since it was seeded.

Cheap? JP isn’t perfect but the AD spends literally every dollar they earn. Conservative? CyTown is exhibit A in thinking big. i am grateful for his leadership through very difficult times the last 15 years and the headwinds are still blowing. The AD continues to overachieve given its resources.
The loud minority thinks it's fashionable to **** on JP. A lot of these fans weren't here before JP was AD and lack perspective.
