I mostly agree as the sound system always sounded bad in Jack Trice, IMO. As I noted above, curious to see photos that anyone may have of what it looks like. There were renderings that were on another thread last fall but can't find them at the moment. Also, the plans called for new video boards that extended the width of each structure so assuming that is still the plan, that will be a big improvement to the game day atmostphere starting next year between the new video boards and new sounds system this year.
Let's just hope that fans aren't deluded into thinking that a new (largely) single point sound system is going to solve issues with the sound reaching different areas in the stadium at different times. The whole stadium is still not going to be clap to the beat at the same time because they are hearing the music at different times. This new sound system will not be able to change the laws of physics.

I was REALLY hoping they'd switch to a multi-point system when they upgraded for this reason.

This. Many, many stadiums have figured it out (accounting for the “laws of physics”) to get cohesive, immersive, and clean sound to most parts of the stadium.
I'm guessing they are also substantially more expensive. This probably isn't a like-for-like replacement, but I'm guessing it'll be pretty similar.

No, but the vertical arrays -- if aimed properly -- should alleviate the problem of certain elevations of the upper deck and press box being blasted into oblivion just in order to get an adequate volume at field level.

Pollard said on KXNO that the sound in Jack Trice Stadium has been a thorn in his side for 20 years! He was really relieved to have some improvement underway.

Will it not make my ears hurt from the tinniness when they play 'hype' music between downs?

It was terrible the last time I went.

Paul definitely had his obvious faults, but that intro was pretty bad ass.
My brother took viola lessons with the sole purpose of playing that riff when he turned 13. Mom refused to pay for guitar lessons.

JTS accustics are terrible.
This made me chuckle because I’ve heard the opposite. I moved from Iowa 6 years ago and unfortunately haven’t been to a game in about 8 years or so. You can check me. Last time I was the south end zone wasn’t bowled and the new video board wasn’t installed.

The reason I chuckled by your comment was that just last week the national sports talk media, Sirius XM College Sports, I think specifically it was Jacob Hester, said that JTS was a sneaky tough place to play. But, he said it had a lot to do with their great sound system. He said he’s done games there and there sound system is amazing.
