Yes, yes, I know. Simply, I have no interest in sharing the conference title with any other team simply because I truly think ISU is the best team in the conference and best positioned at this point in the season to win it outright. Sharing the title would be slightly underachieving.

If sharing the conference title with anther team is required to dethrone Kansas, then I guess so be it.

Plus, if any team deserves to dethrone KU, how about the team that has been by far the most competitive team to challenge KU since 2012, in ISU. It would be the most fitting.

No deal surly.

I'm a little greedy maybe but I want ISU to win this outright. Would I take a share with KSU? I suppose. #1 because the streak ends. #2 because I don't hate KSU... ag bros and all.

With that said, I wouldn't sign up for a share right now because I like where we sit at this point in time. I want to see that ESPN headline of the streak ending via Cyclone. I want to hear the squeals from the Lawrence all the way up here in Iowa. Then I want to go party in KC and watch ISU get a top three seed in Des Moines.

This is going to end in a tie, I can just see it happening. Hopefully, either or both TxT and K-State knock Ku out of it. EMAWs get oSu in Manhattan, then at Ku for Big Monday. TxT gets Ku in Lubbock Saturday, where beating them is, obviously, more likely albeit nowhere near certain. ISU still has some hurdles in Austin and home v. TxT. This is going to be a humdinger of a close for once.

I'd want to look again to make sure, but last night I was looking at the remaining schedules for KSU, ISU, KU and TT and it looked like a decent possibility that the season ends with a four team tie at 13-5.

I actually think that's as unlikely or more so than someone winning it outright. Too many variables.

I think that ISU picks up one more L either in Austin or Ft Worth. KSU probably has a loss in Lawrence. But, I don't see another L for KSU, which means they win outright unless KU can beat TT in Lubbock. ISU needs to win out to get a share. We'll know a lot more after Saturday and Monday. If KSU can find a way to win in Lawrence, it's over.

Gonna be an interesting next 7 days of Big 12 hoops for sure. Kansas seems to be figuring things out with Vick gone now. This is a brutal back to back for KU. Hopefully they get Garrett back this weekend.

I would take a B12 tie with ISU today and be happy to move on to the conference tournament and NCAA's. I wouldn't be disappointed one tad, oh, maybe just a little, but the trophy and displacing Ku would a strong consolation and make for a thoroughly delightful end to this season.

So, how about you?
Where do we sign up?
No brainer given ISU was picked as low as 6th, maybe even 7th in league preseason polls

K-State is really in the driver's seat, even with the loss to Iowa State on Saturday. They would have to lose both of their remaining road games to get to 5 losses, I dont see them losing at home the rest of the season and TCU is struggling with injuries now.

I think Iowa State would have to win out to get the title outright, I see us losing in Austin which would mean we would need K-State to have 2 losses which seems unlikely.

Way up there
It would suck to end in a tie with KU but the silver lining would be, we are the team they'd least want to share a title with.

In the event of a tie how do they figure out seeding for KC?
  1. Head to head (or round robin of tied teams if more than 2)
  2. Record against next best teams (record against #3 for example or round robin against teams tied for 3rd)
  3. Keep going down looking for difference in record against next teams in standings.
It is important to note that you ignore tie breakers when looking at records against those next teams. When Baylor and Tech are tied for 3rd and the first place tied teams are trying to break the tie you look at record against both Baylor and Tech together even if Baylor swept Tech and holds the head to head tie breaker between those two.

Fran said today that he believed Ku would win the B12, although K-State was best positioned, and ISU had the best talent and would go deepest in the dance. He never mentioned TxT. All of which was rather confusing to me, except to note that he seems to have drifted over to the dark side with stories about the greatness of Bill Self and his ability to compartmentalize, which caused me to remember Bill Clinton and that woman.
