His rivals rating is pretty low at 5.3. Not sure academics would impact is rivals rating. So it may be one of those high risk, high upside kids that doesn't get many looks.

The 85th scholarship is never high risk.

Fast out of his stance, takes nice flat angles to the qb, is good once he gets the tackle on his heels. Needs to work on his hands and I could see him stepping in for us this season.

I think it does. James Carpenter was a 2 star that did not qualify for us. Academics. Placed at Coffeyville by Iowa State. After Juco went to Alabama and then 1st round pick and NFL.

He looks like he might be a designated edge rush guy. Maybe put in the go after the QB in passing situations. Would be nice to have a guy that breaks through the line and runs down a QB instead of them just escaping.

Boy, gotta think our DL just got better! Quick, big, fast. A natural-born Leo, if the Leo position is what I think it is.

In addition to his quickness and speed, he doesn't stop - he'll track you down.

Check him out at 3:02 on the video, from RE he charges toward the middle of the backfield and reverses to catch the RB out on the flank. That's pretty good!

You know, we might be pretty salty this fall.

Still pretty small, even for a Leo. A redshirt for him would be nice. Hope he proves most everyone here wrong.

Just think Lawrence Taylor. He would probably be the best protoypical Leo of al time.

He's listed at 235. He's a player, I don't think a few pounds makes a huge difference when quickness and speed is key.

He's got two to play two, no redshirt possibility, apparently.

I know it's only a few lbs, but the one profile I saw was 225. 235 is much better, but I don't expect much from any juco coming to Ames in August/late July, almost a waste of a year.

If I recall von Miller is only about 250. Give the kid one year at ISU and he will probably be the same size

Like I said in the other thread, Leo's don't have to be big.. They need to be athletic. The Seahawks drafted one out of college who was 6'3" and 235 at the combine... Which is the same size Chris Clemons was out of college too.

Besides, you shouldn't expect much out of Jucos their first 6-8 games.

The guy was listed at 6'3 235 on his JUCO roster last year. He isn't any different from our guys.....as in who's to say he didn't put on 10-15 pounds training this offseason? It's a pretty common thing really.

6'3 245 is plenty big for a Leo.
