Big game by Gabe, especially after struggling w/ shot early. Needs to take care of the completely unforced turnovers though. That travel after the shot clock reset was a complete headscratcher for a senior to make.

I was surprised he turned it around in-game like tonight. It was clear from his first couple of shots - one of which that went off the top of the backboard - that he was still thinking too much on his shot. I don't know who said what to him, but he figured it out mid game. When someone is in an extended slump that is extremely tough to do.

Gabe is good for at least one corner three that will hit the side of the backboard

not sure how that happens but at least he got something going tonight to help him dig his way out of the funk.

what kind of comment is that?
Maybe he was saying that it is in kind of poor taste to bag on a guy who went 4 of 9 from the arc including that shot. They aren't all going to go in and his 4 3s and defense helped keep ISU in this game. And it wasn't wide open for long. KU had a long player making a hard closeout on the shot.

I saw Michael Jordan miss a couple of those....

I was thinking the same thing when I saw this

The thing is if you are a competitor you want that chance to take a game winning shot and I thought he had a good look to take that shot too. Had he made it we'd be here today praising what a great game he had and what a great shot he took but instead it appears some here want to focus on him missing it and finding flaw in it. I would have been more frustrated had he passed up that shot and tried to pass the ball quick for someone to chuck up a bad desperation shot. My guess is Hunter wanted to drive the lane for the last shot but when they shut down his path to the rim and he saw Gabe open he made the correct decision to kick it to the open shooter instead of getting blocked or forcing up a tough shot.

Gabe's first 2 shots of the night were ugly but glad he found some confidence and I'd gladly take 4-9 3 point shooting from him any game. There is no point in kicking him over missing a game winner when he had his best game in over a month offensively.

Yes good to see a more controlled Gabe come out of his slump a bit. I think he plays better when he doesn't try to do too much. He is not the one on one player that Brockington can be. His play of late is showing the coaching he is receiving. Let the others do most of the playmaking, be ready to take your shot when open and in rhythm.
