K State will be tough, they are the best coached team in our league, have a really good defense and a QB that can run the ball. We are the better team but they play much more disciplined and if they stymied Okie St, they can slow us down too. I expect a great gameplan from them. If we win turnovers/penalties and can stop their run game (they are smart enough to stick to it), especially the QB, we will win comfortably. Hopefully we can jump on them, their offense isn't suited to come from behind. If it's close going in to the 4th, I don't love our chances. This is the only big 12 team I worry about outcoaching us in all 3 phases.
I think having the film of what Kstate did against Okie st will pay dividends, or atleast I hope so

totally agree, I think K State will try to play us similar. Hopefully Manning can take a few cues about what worked from Gundy.

K-State has been the one team that has really ran the ball well against our 3 man front. They are incredibly one dimensional and like OU showed once you take away the run the can really struggle to move the ball.

Can't agree more. MC preaches winning in the margins, KSU actually does it.

OSU offense put up like 13 points against KSU. Hopefully Manning isn't taking much from Gundy

I'm honestly expecting a similar result as last years game. They will try to pound the rock and they will sell out to stop the run and get in Brock's head early with pressure. Brock will have to be on point and incredibly poised if we are going to have any shot at winning. We have yet to really see that Brock for 4 consecutive quarters yet this year, so my optimism tank is on E

When you look at the adjustments made in the 2nd half, Gundy called a good game, especially playing without his go to play maker. The fact that K State was able to throw something at them they didn't expect and Gundy adjusted, was the big point there. K state is too well coached to just allow us to do what we want, Manning has struggled when that's the case.

I don't think Kansas State beats Texas, so lose to KState and ISU is in too.
ISU vs Texas in Austin is for a trip to Dallas.

I was responding to the winning 2 of the three. And regardless of what anyone else does, if the loss is to WVU....we are in. Someone can correct me.....but in that scenario, we have 2 losses........OU has at least 2(we have tie-breaker), Texas would have 3, KSU would have 3 and so would WVU even if they win out. That would leave us and OSU(assuming OSU only loses to OU) because if they don't....it will be OU. Beat KSU and UT and your next opponent will either be OSU or OU in the conference game.

Yes, if ISU goes 2-1 with a loss to WVU, they are in.

Ultimately it comes down to the Texas game as the must win. As I said a page back, even if ISU loses to to KState, there's still a fairly good chance they'd make the title game. Obviously they'd need some help in that scenario. OSU would need to lose 2 of their last 4.

What's Campbell's record when playing a game after more than 7 days or break (start the season, Iowa after SDSU was cancelled and bye weeks). It can't be great

I show his record coming off 7+ day byes at 4-5. What is remarkable is how close all of those games were.

2016: Lost to K-State 31-26 and beat Kansas 31-24
2017: Lost to Texas 17-7 and beat OU 38-31
2018: Beat Tech 40-31
2019: Lost to Iowa 18-17 and OU 42-41
2020: Beat TCU 37-34, Lost to Okie St 24-21, and ?? vs K-State

Three items I wish improvement:
Defensive front scheme early.
Pocket protection all game.
Purdue plant and pass off back foot.

I’m not sure the pocket protection on the interior will be fixed before Downing is back and has a chance to get settled in.

As for the bolded—doesn’t autocorrect suck?

I'm not sure why we wait so long to start bringing pressure. There's been a couple games this year where we drop 8 in the first half but then ramp up the blitz in the second. When we bring pressure it really throws QB's off and they can't just run their timing routes like they can against cloud coverage.

Which is why we should try some things that get the ball out quicker, the plays to Lang were a really nice add. I'd like to see Brock a little more involved in the run game, nothing crazy but 3/4 designed plays, 3/4 scrambles would really help teams from teeing off against Breece or selling out to rush the passer. Considering what we're missing along the OL,we don't do Brock any favors w/playcalling. I know a lot of that is trust in Brock but he can't do it all.

Or OSU wins Bedlam and UT beats KSU.

Then it would be:
OSU 8-1
ISU 7-2
OU, KSU, UT: 6-3

Heacock has been hyper consistent here. In the 1st Half they come with a basic defensive plan. They may test a few things but they will not deviate from that unless the game is completely out of hand which it never is. He doesn't want to expose his more aggressive packages before half time - this prevents the opposing coach from setting up adjustments at half time and it is pretty difficult to adjust on the fly during the 2nd half. I think it also means they will get the same look from opposing offense in the 2nd half so he can scheme more confidently against it.

I think they are fine if it means being down a score at halftime.

I have no direct connection to the program and it is purely my observation but I am pretty confident this is what is going on.

If we win the next 2 and lose to WV, it would be a 3 way tie OU-OSU-ISU, and I think we are net positive against both of the Okies - which makes it guaranteed. Unfortunately Texas knows how to end a game in the clutch and KSU has more consistency, so I am not convinced we are the CCP favorite. We have 3 loseable games , OU-KSU-TX-OSU only have 2.

In the first half, against KSU, OSU got off only 28 plays for a total of 68 yards. OSU punted 6 times. Meanwhile a KSU receiver dropped a sure two point conversion that would have put them up 14-0.

In the second half OSU scored on a 85 yard fumble recovery. Later KSU missed a second two point conversion that would have tied the game.

Every KSU kickoff was planned to create a minimal runback risk. Pooch kicks fair caught at the 20 yard line to different areas of the field.

KSU is disciplined, ball control. No penalties. No mistakes. Always ahead of the chains. (The ONE turnover cost them the game.)

Year after year, KSU shows us the same look. We just don't have the patience and discipline.

I think we lose to KSU. I hope I am wrong.

I don't know KSU was a failed 2 pt conversion from beating OSU with a backup QB. They sound dangerous to me.

ISU was 2missed field goals away from beating OSU....SOUNDS like a dangerous team to me..
