So what if it is shared? That would be a huge step in the right direction for this program. Winning out will be incredibly tough, but I really don't think KU will win at OU.

Agreed, **** their streak, I want a big 12 title for the rafter. Preferably outright but shared works too. Plus we have the tie breaker so we can still talk **** to Jayhawks. Imagine if we beat them in the Big 12's too. It would certainly make their streak more hollow next year a great step to completely dethroning them.

Yeah, I believe KU fans have touted their tiebreaker status against KSU and one seed in the Big 12 tournament as meaning that they really won it outright. Works for me.

I just don't see it happening. Even if we win out (which I think is maybe 25% chance), and KU loses at OU (>75% chance) -- then it's shared and KU will keep their streak. Don't they have like 3 shared titles already in the 10 in a row?

So I'd give us about a 20% chance to share, but 1% chance to win outright. I just don't see KU dropping 2 games with the schedule they have. Go EMAW, I suppose.

Dang that Tech game...

To me it's incredibly impressive they could win 10 out of the last 11. I believe in this "streak" as much as WWE wrestling. They didn't get a share of the title two seasons ago, KSU won more B12 regular season games.

I don't hear that Kansas won a conference title in 2013, 2008, 2006 and 2005 either
Yeah, you do. If they won 10 straight it follows they won titles in those years. It's implied but not specifically stated very often.

This brings up a question for me - has Kansas' seed always been 1 in all 10 of those years? If so, I don't see a single problem with the claim.

Wait... what? That's not true.

First glance says "NO," since they've won as a 2 seed in that stretch.

do you think the chance to play a part in knocking KU off their pedestal (or force them to share) will have their opponents playing just a bit harder over these last few games? obviously everyone "gets up" for KU already, but it's not every season that the title race is looking like it may come down to the last game of the season.

2013 - KSU
2008 - Texas
2006 - Texas
2005 - Oklahoma

But do you EVER hear mention that those teams "won a conference title" in those years? No.

No, but thats because even splitting a title for 10 years in a row is fairly insane.

From the jayhawk perspective i'd imagine they feel like:

1.they were able to dismiss (fairly or not) KSU sharing it with them because they swept KSU that year, twice in the regular season and then again in the big 12 tournament.

2. Texas never had to play Kansas in Lawrence (beat KU @ Texas both of those years) and lost both times when they met up in the big 12 tournament which sort of settled the 'tie' for them.

I think he's referring to the ISU "loss" to ku at hilton that year.

We're one game back. If the officials blow a game we clearly don't deserve to win with 3 horrible calls all in our favor in the late seconds and we tie KU only because of that invalid game...I'd know KU had a better regular season than us.

Hopefully we take the title outright next year and they stop talking about it anyway.

Would be cool if we could get our Hilton win streak extremely crazy to give them another wild streak to talk about.

You should start watching CBB. It's great.

He simply meant without the streak of 10 in a row you would have zero clue who won the title in those given years. A share of the title would be huge! Hoiberg wants his program to compete with KU every single year and this would help so much to turn that corner.

You apparently haven't watch Kansas play a conference game this year. They ALWAYS say that they have won 10 years in a row (which includes every one of those years). In addition, many other B12 games mention the same streak, including Saturday's ISU game.

Does anyone know when Kansas is going to lose next? Seems like we are going to have to win out to catch them

I think @OU is a coin toss for them. I think we have to win out to have that same coin toss shot at sharing the title.

Of course if they were to drop another game in addition to that one there are a ton of variables in us sharing or even winning outright.

Yeah, they badly need to add "a share" or "a piece", especially when the most recent year they shared they didn't even earn the share.

With four games to play they are already scoreboard watching and talking about how they don't want to be the group to surrender the streak.

ISU just needs to keep winning to keep the pressure on them and see where it goes. The Jayhawks control their own destiny.
