Eh on the interview, Murphy didn't really ask him any tough questions about leaving ISU twisting in the wind, but maybe that comes at the Friday press conference.

Murphy has never asked a tough question to anyone directly. He hides behind his comedy show, Sound Off, and uses "What I think" to "ask" the questions. He doesn't have the sack to ask anyone to their face.

I think in this situation with Hoiberg, Fred gave him the time for that longer 1:1 interview out of mutual respect. Murphy covered Fred during his playing days and there is a long relationship. Murphy also probably wanted Fred to enjoy his exciting day.

You are right though, in general, i do think that Keith Murphy is a pretty fair reporter in central Iowa, but has a way of making statements covered in "joking" manner that can dig or is stated as a question...then he will say "i never said that, I just posed the question" type of banter on the radio or ask the question to then get a caller/fan to answer the way he wants and then say "the fans are saying."

He was there for the Tuesday Press Conference.

He drove to Chicago on Monday morning, and was in the WGN newsroom when Fred was caught at the Ames Airport (when everyone thought he was already in Chicago).

Just a reminder - winning a title is really hard. Some of you act like it is as easy as turning on a light switch.

Maybe I should not of said "just as easily". The new coach will have about the same chance on winning a title that Fred would have with this team. Fred is a good coach, and was able to get the right players in here. The next coach is going to have a great opportunity of coaching a Top 10/Elite 8 team next season, and it would take an absolutely horrible hire to screw that up. My main concern is carrying that momentum forward into recruiting. I'm not worried about next year at all with whoever is brought in. Its years 2-5 that scare me.

Did they post that to Fred? There is a difference in being upset about something and posting it to them.

It was the same 20% of the Cyclone-fanatic negative thinking parrots that just repeat what they feel is the "popular" phrase to say. True cyclone fans are mature enough to think beyond their feeling and see the big picture. All Cyclone nations feels the loss, but as I remember the same 20% nut jobs complained about Fred being the worst hire by Jamie Pollard. Oops you were WRONG!!!! Fred has the right to choose the course for his life, win or loose its his choice. Most successful coaches at ISU have left ISU and been very successful after their tenure here.

God bless you Fred and your family, continued good health to you, we will keep the light on for you.

Go Cyclones.

PS. I just renewed my season tickets for ISU MBB, lets support our players.

What did you want him to ask that he didn't?

I'm excited for a Tweet from the head coach of the Chicago freaking Bulls congratulating Iowa State after a big win. You know that will happen.

I 100% agree with these points.

Whoever the assbag or assbags who were tweeting at Fred to get out of Ames or whatever should go back to being Hok fans.

You are mad at Fred because the Bulls were doing everything they could to take a dump on Thibs? Hoiberg had zero control over the timing of this. If you are mad at him for going against his dream job comments or something else I can see that, but the timing of this was 100% on the Bulls and 0% on Fred.

Pursuing dreams and better paying jobs is fine, as long at that pursuit doesn't hurt the entity that is paying your present salary. It was Hoiberg's responsibility to make sure that the pursuit of his dream NBA job didn't negatively affect his ability to carry out his duties at ISU. It is becoming quite clear that on the recruiting side of his job, which is intimately important to college BB, he wasn't able to prevent these negative effects. That's 100% on Hoiberg. The Bull's timing was unfortunate, but it was Hoiberg's responsibility to make sure that while he was still employed by ISU, that timing didn't hurt ISU MBB.

On paper anyway, it looks like the recruiting woes are going to hit hard in 2016-2017. Hopefully the new coach, or Otz, or whoever is doing the recruiting has some ties to good JUCO's or game-ready freshmen to mitigate the 2016-2017 issue.

Some people just want so much from Fred. Even the way he leaves for his dream job has to be perfect. To me this about the least messy, antagonistic way I've ever seen a coach move to a new position. He's even coming back Friday to address the local media for christsakes! What more do you want? How many jobs have you left that eloquently?

In my opinion people are worrying too much about the future. It will all work itself out if we have another successful year in 15'-16'. Kids love playing time with a great chance to start, a loyal fan base and awesome practice facilities. We aren't setup as badly as everyone thinks for 16'-17'. Give it some time to play out....
