Weren't we recruiting this kid a few years ago before taking Cole Netten? I remember reading on here that CPR was at one of the Grinnell games late in the year watching him kick. Sounds like he ended up at Iowa Central and was named JUCO Special Teams Player of the Week by hitting 4 field goals in the Triton's 21-20 victory over Ellsworth (32, 45, 49 and 51 yards)

What's wrong with missing him? Netten's not bad. Have to get the ball to the 35 yard line for him to even have a shot, and ISU hasn't done that the past few weeks.

Looks like CPR couldn't pick the talent here either........

Criswell has had significantly more opportunity to show what he has than Netten. 17 FG attempts to Netten's 9. I wouldn't say either of them have had enough time to really show themselves off yet.

I thought Criswell actually considered walking on at one point. I could be wrong.

*EDIT: Also, I could also be wrong on thsi, but I don't think that the kicking game is probably one of the last areas that needs to be criticized this year.

THIS. Netten is a young, serviceable kicker. Not gonna likely play in the NFL, but we've had worse.

No problem with Netten, why are you writing this kid off as a bust? He has made almost all if not all of the gimmies, made some tougher ones and missed some. Kids a frosh, he will only get better, don't understand the logic here. The only thing I might see wrong here is, we are carrying two scholarship kickers on the team right now, that's kinda puzzling to me

Exactly. Last week's holder gave him laces to kick. Netten is a good K.
If the ball gets placed correctly the only excuse to ever miss an extra point is if the offensive line runs back and blocks it. Especially on an extra point the laces don't matter because you should be driving the ball under the laces.
