My wife processes birth certificates at a hospital. This subject is a frequent dinner topic. Taisin was the latest one I remember, rhymes with raisin. Its a boy, if that matters.

Not exactly sure.
I know someone who named their child Maverick.

Oh, your son is terrible following directions? What do you expect, you named him “Maverick.”
It actually became popular I’ve been told. My wife’s niece named her kid Maverick. Because they liked rhe movie.

The book Freakonomics dedicates an entire chapter to this subject. The question was “Does your name determine your lot in life?” They did a massive research project on names and assessed if there was any correlation to financial and/or social success.

Example: they found a pair of twin boys in New York named Winner and Loser. Loser (Lou) turned out better than his twin brother.

Their conclusion was: A dumb name does not determine your lot in life by itself. Rather, if you have a dumb name, you likely had dumb parents who then raised you poorly.

Went to a River Bandits game last week. One of the players names is River Town. First name River (like River Phoenix) and last name Town (like the building at ISU).
I was there Thursday night. Too bad the Bandits aren't any good anymore. And River Town is perfect for the QC since it is you know, a river town.

I have a grandson named Maverick. There are 3 of them in his daycare. It's quite a common name these days. Not sure what's so odd about it.

Worked at US Bank (corporate) for about 5 years awhile ago, the head of Legal Counsel was named Richard Payne, but only his mother and the CEO could call him Richard. Everyone else had to call him ****.

**** Payne.
