Basketball season started they have already stopped talking about football. I had a few friends go over to lawrence last weekend for the KU/NU game and most fans weren't even talking about the football team they were talking about how the basketball team was going to walk through the big 12. Their fans don't deserve a good football team they don't even care that they are #4 in the BCS.
Are you serious? I'm in grad school here and all anyone talks about is football. Basketball's a big deal too but it's not like they suck. Also, the Baylor game crowd was hurt because it was pouring rain all morning and the game was eventually delayed several hours due to lightning.

I don't want to lose my "Clone Card" so know that I'll be wearing Cardinal and Gold on the 17th but some of the bashing here is a little over the top considering we've battled our own attendance problems over the years, even in years we've gone to bowls.

It's been quite a few years but I once went to a Nebraska game at Lawrence...and the stands were SOLID red once you got outside the 40 yard line!!

I was at several NU-ISU games in the mid-90s where large sections of Jack Trice was solid red. And it was red, not cardinal. Of course they did the same thing in South Bend a couple years ago...

Still, 51k for a record? That's pretty bad...considering we are almost averaging that during a bad year.

I'll second that notion. I'm also in grad school here and this campus is football crazy for sure right now. Granted, KU is a basketball school, but that doesn't mean that they cannot have a consistent football team and drum up consistent support for that team. Memorial Stadium blows however. The tailgating scene here makes me want to puke. Either way, I'll be in cardinal and gold on the 17th.

I would love to get their draws for basketball.

As others have said, we have no place ripping another school for fan support.

It was annoying me that I had to defend their fans so I'll just say that many of their basketball fans are still really arrogant and are confused that any good basketball can be played outside of Lawrence.

And their tailgating scene is nothing compared to ISU's.

OK, I feel better.

Has thier attendance climbed throughout the year as they got better, or has it remained stedily crappy?

My reasoning is, I almost get more frustrated when fans start showing up only when you're winning. It's odd, I'm both a Clone and a Cubbie fan, two teams that shatter attendance records regardless of schedule, or record. Then I look at teams like Colorado, Brewers, or Kansas and get pissed off. My bro went to a rockies game early in the season long before the playoffs were a thought, the stadium was empty and you get get $5 tickets!!! Try that at wrigley even when the Cubs are dead last and lose 90+ games on the season. Doesn't happen!!

It's unfortunate-they have a nice stadium but the others are right, we didn't exactly have a packed Jack when we were playing for a North title.

I would think that Mangino generates enough gravity that anything with mass in the state of Kansas would be unable to escape the stadium.
