This seems counterintuitive, but give me a packed house against KU as opposed to years past. I think playing in that dead stadium has caused us to play down in years past.

KU scored 35 on Duke and ISU's defense is better than Duke. Unless the game gets away from them they won't need to go that high.
The key for Duke keeping the scoring down was possessing the ball. They pretty much split TOP with Kansas. But even still KU left points on the field. They went for it on 4th and 1 on the goal line and didn't get it. They had a drive that went to the Duke 28 and fumbled. They also had another drive that got into Duke territory. But they left at a least 6 points out there. That puts it in the 40s.
But I think If ISU can score over 30 they win. It will be interesting to see how ISU defends them. It seemed like Duke's goal was to try and take away the run game but then Daniels goes out and throws for a bunch of yards and they still got 200 on the ground.

I hope that’s right… our D could shut them down or get scorched on QB runs on broken plays and passes downfield….

I think we win by 10+. Barring turnovers, I don't think our offense will have any problem moving the ball on this Kansas defense. I think we run the ball effectively and I think that'll open up the passing game. I also don't think they're going to have anyone that's going to be able to check X, so hoping for a big day out of him.

As for the defense, containing Daniels is obviously priority #1a and #1b. He's the straw that stirs the drink and unlike other QB's like him that we've faced in the past, he doesn't have an incredible supporting cast.
I know ISU would never do it, but I would like to send a lot of blitzes at him and try to knock him down a few times to get him off his game. If you do this early and give up a couple scores, there is plenty of time to recover.

I also can’t help but think that Freyler getting ejected was a bigger thing than many believe. He is the run-fitter and the QB of the secondary and he is all Big12 worthy. He has been injured, ejected, etc this year so far. The safety in CJH’s defensive schemes are always the critical pieces. I think KU is in for a rude awakening as he isn’t on likely much of this years tape for them to see. I also think that Dekkers will solve the puzzle - he is coming into his 4th start and I can guarantee Iowa and Baylor’s secondaries are miles better than KU’s.
Another thing this game reminds me of is when we were riding high in October a few years back coming into the Fighting Gundies - this turned out to be a buzz saw as Purdy threw the ball a billion times and we actually gave up on even running the ball. That’s the key, make KU’s offense one sided and see how they deal with it. I hate myself for writing this much

I'm tired of this notion that scrambling quarterbacks give our defense trouble, as if that's unique to us, and they don't give every team trouble.

It's true that our defense can struggles with QBs who can scramble. It's also true that EVERY defense struggles with QBs who can scramble. Fans make it out to be like we're the only team that has trouble with some of these guys.
Have to play defense like the checker board game of Fox & Geese! Have to contain him and defensive backs has to cover receivers tight!

Yes, Freyler getting taken out of the game reminded me of the game ISU lost to NDS a few years ago, or the Big 12 championship game. In all three of those games ISU's best safety and best run fit stopper was taken out of the game in the first series and the defense was never quite the same the rest of the game.
