I don’t believe they do. I think that’s why sling is enticing to some because you can antenna the local CBS,Fox,ABC and then Ala carte the espns fs1’s. I could also be very wrong about that as I’ve only ever used YouTube Tv when I moved to streaming.

For our friend @Mel4ISU could you sign up for a free trial of Paramount+? Or maybe sign up until March madness (we could be on CBS again). Or cancel after the game? Would be cheaper than going to bar and spending on food and drinks.

Super Bowl is also on CBS this year so you’ll get to watch at least one Cyclone in it!

I have Paramount+ (got it for the UNLV game, stayed for Brave New Worlds) and it does include local CBS channel.

Ian Eagle and Jay wright would be my dream team on CBS. They are both at the top.

I love Fran but we get him a lot so I'm great with Raftery on the call. He hasn't lost his fastball. I watched a special on him a few years ago. He still does tons of prep work for every game he calls and hand writes notes for reference during the game so he offers informed insight. He's also been around forever and throws in quite a few old school references for us old timers. I wouldn't be surprised if Johnny's name is mentioned.

He and Vern Lundquist had our calls during the E8 run in 2000. He's calling a lot of Big East games now but selfishly I'm glad I get to hear him on the mic for us again. Dude is in his 80s now so it's hard telling how many years he has left in him. Father time is still undefeated.

FWIW, if I were you, I'd drop Sling in a heartbeat and pick up YTTV. However, it is $20 more, I think.

Best part of beating Kansas in Kemper was always the post-game meltdown on talk radio.

doing a little looking at Kansas from the analytic sites, and its interesting, they really don't do anything really well. Their offense is almost entirely predicated on shooting percentage, along with being pretty good (not great) on the offensive glass. They are ~25th overall in offensive efficiency. They take very few threes, but that has changed a bit with the inclusion of Furphy into the starting line-up (more on him below)

Defensively they aren't top 10 in any statistical category, and only top 25 in limiting attempts and points at the rim. They give up a ton of shots and points in the mid-range, which will be interesting to see if we attack that.

Furphy definitely makes a huge difference, at least offensively, for KU. He's be a fascinating matchup with Milan, as they are very similarly sized. In their last 3 games he's averaged:

34+ minutes/game
17 ppg
8+ rebounds
along with 5 assists, 2 steals and only 2 turnovers
shooting 7-9 on 2pters and 9-17 on 3pters

We need to make sure we don't leave him if Harris / McCullar get into the lane. He basically single-handedly won them the Cincy game.

They are very thin on the front line, basically just Adams and Dickinson, but they seem to have stayed out of foul trouble all season. It'd be a good game for Lipsey, Gilbert, Ward, etc to push the issue at the rim - like they did late against KSU. A foul-fest would be advantageous for us.

The other thing of interest is that McCullar, Adams and Harris all play 37+ minutes a game in conference play, and Dickinson is averaging 32. Then Furphy has averaged the same in the last 3. I hope we can make their depth an issue by playing hard every possession and wear them down. It's a long game when every possession is a cage match and you don't get a breather.

You can always tell the announcers that do their homework. That's a great separator beyond just voice and presence. Nothing will turn me off faster than one commenting on parts of our game and saying something clearly untrue about our team's or players' strengths or weaknesses.

Good analysis. I think you're right that attacking them early and often on the front line to try and get Adams and, especially, Dickinson in foul trouble is advantageous to us. We've got more front line bodies. If we can continue to play our aggressive style defense make it so it's a physical game West Va-Huggins style as we've been doing of late (which usually draws the other team in as well to the physical foul fest) it should help us. They are extremely thin in the front line and they don't have front line depth like ISU.

Furphy's coming along recently makes them more dangerous as they get going for a Tourney run. Should be fun!

Great stuff. Based on the times I've watched them I agree that they look far from invincible...probably surprisingly so compared to their expectations. That said, Self has had plenty of teams that weren't world beaters early on but then the calendar turns to February and they hit their stride. We can hate the guy all we want but he's a helluva coach. I think they'll look like the best team in the conference and a FF contender as the season winds down.

If we can find a way to avoid our all too typical 4 points in 8-10 minutes (seemingly end of the first half/start of the 2nd) scoring drought it would go a long ways toward winning this one.
