Am I the only one that finds it funny that KU fans try to belittle the big 12 tourney because you just need to get hot for three or 4 games. So does the Super Bowl not matter? Does the NCAA tournement simply not matter? KU fans have become somewhat delusional.

I heard "ISU's Super Bowl" comments from Jayhawk fans in regards to the Big 12 Tourney. I just burst out laughing thinking about our good old neighbors to the east. Maybe Lawrence and Iowa City aren't all that different, at least when it comes to excuses.

All you need to do to get into the Big 12 tourney is be a Big 12 conference member. Pretty sure that the regular season has something to do with making the Super Bowl. Nice try, though.

I heard "KU's Super Bowl" from some ISU fans after the game in Lawrence. At some point you just have to not take things said on message boards very seriously.

I could understand if you won the league by 3 games or so, but the fact is in most years, including this, it is just an extension of league play where you play more teams in the stretch of 4 days. KU's vocal minority is upset considering that they didn't create enough separation during the regular season to really distinguish themselves as the best team in the conference which came back to bite them as we showed we were better this year.

It's quite interesting when they try to complain with the reasoning that a team with 14 overall wins should never have the chance to win an automatic bid through the tournament.. How often has that happened? Only 3 different teams have won the tournament over the last decade; Iowa State, Kansas, and Missouri. If you truly are as good as you say then you should do your part and beat those teams so they can't move on.

I would agree. I put a little more weight on the regular season but them trying to discredit the tourney is laughable.
We all put more weight on the regular season title than the Big 12 tourney. I personally am not discrediting the tourney win for ISU, hats off to them on a great run. That doesn't change the fact that I don't find much value in the tourney. If the Big 12 tourney was cancelled this year, Kansas would have been a #2 seed and ISU would have been a #3 seed. Playing three games in three days and risking injury literally provided NO VALUE whatsoever to either team. They still ended up seeded exactly where they were prior to the week.

I guess that's why they played a clearly injured Perry Ellis....

The t-shirts for sale on the Big 12 site all have "Big 12 Tournament Champions" on them. I am talking about a number of shirts shown in the stands and seen around town that did not and that were not made by the Big 12. You realize there is a t-shirt company selling "Big 12 Champions" t-shirts right on this site, don't you?

You realize everything in the Sprint Center said "Big 12 Champions," right? All of the graphics on the ribbon LCD too.

The event's official name is the "Big 12 Basketball Championship."

I'm fine if KU hates us and actually I'm glad they do because I've hated KU for many years so the feeling is mutual. We should be glad they have hatred for us right now because that means our basketball program is relevant and they feel threatened by our success. Why fans get all worked up over this I don't understand. We beat them 2 of 3 times head to head this season so who cares what want to say about it to discredit it as the proof is in the results and just leave it at that. We shouldn't have to defend that, KU fans can make all the excuses and call it whatever they want but at the end of the day they can't change the fact we beat them 2 of 3 times and that's satisfaction enough to me to know that just irritates them that a team was able to accomplish that against them and they can't do anything about it.

Everybody knows Kentucky already won the real NCAA championship this season... a six-game tournament won't change KU fans' minds.

Better to knock the rust off and get in game shape prior to the tourney than IN the tourney, don't you think?

or resting one of your best players in a (ku fans words0 "meaningless tournament"
don't you want one of your best players to be 100% by the big dance?

knock the rust off? That's why he was in there late in the game, clearly not 100%? Self was still knocking the rust off? How much rust was on him? Seriously, that's the excuse you're going with? You might want to think about that, again. Take a step back and consider how lame it sounds.

Come on, tuco. You get a lot of flack around here, but you can hold your head up, because you at least try to make rational arguments. This isn't one of them. Admit it. Just walk it back while you still can. You don't want to go down defending a hill as dumb as this one.

Right....... that's why they played him 2 games, logged the 3rd most minutes (30) on the team in the finals... the 1st team all big 12 player (still clearly hurt) needed to "knock off the rust"

I don't care how people brand it either. KU won the regular season championship and we won the tournament championship and that is the way it will read in the record book too. I bought a shirt from Cyclones.com last year after we won the Big 12 Tournament and after hearing about KU fans whining this year that we were wearing ones that said Big 12 Champions took another look at mine and the word "tournament" is right there on it. While it's not as big as the word Champions it's on there so they can shut their trap for not looking closer and just assuming we left it off.

We aren't going to add 2015 to the Big 12 championship banner in Hilton, it will go on the Big 12 tournament championship banner. It's like in professional sports, the team that wins the championship at the end of the playoffs doesn't always win the regular season championship too right?

Then why did Self play Ellis who was hobbling around after two straight games?

I am glad to see your ban lifted though.

I don't think a guy like Perry Ellis needed to be played while injured due to "rust." That guy could've taken 2 straight weeks off to heal before the NCAA tourney. He isn't going to magically forget how to ball in that amount of time. It's not like they play Kentucky first round. Your point is asinine. KU was playing him because they were trying their hardest to win the tournament in KC. But nice try, though.

lol.... So just because the bottom feeders are in the tourney means that semifinals and championship mean nothing? Even though it consisted of the top 4 teams?

I missed where I said Kansas wasn't trying to win. They obviously were. Every team wants to win their games at this time of year. That doesn't change the fact that the results of the tournament were totally irrelevant for either team and their ncaa tourney seedings.
