Have you tried listening to Lucas this week with Sean out? I am probably not going to listen to it again until Sean is back. Lucas can't carry a show by himself and while I know he is at Big 10 media days too he's been filling some of the airtime with replays from previous interviews or shows even before the 5pm "overtime" hour. He replayed the Jamie Pollard interview from yesterday morning around 4pm and I just turned the channel as I had already heard it. When he's not replaying pre-recorded stuff he just talks to himself basically and rambles on topics that don't need deep dives into. Sean is out this week and next because he has a baby due any day, I doubt I listen to that show on the way home until he is back because even if Lucas gets some guest co-hosts some days it's probably going to be mostly Eickholt who I can't stand either.

Lucas is the worst at the station for sure, he might be even worse than Travis was. His hok fandom is only part of the equation, even without that he'd be terrible.

ive all but left KXNO for CF and IE pods. when football starts back I'll tune in to Miller and Condon some.

I dont mind off topic talk but you gotta make it interesting or funny. No one tells a story better than Hassell.

I know there are a lot of Ross and Travis haters, but the interviews they have been getting are pretty good and you actually get a solid 20-30 minutes. Obviously too much Hawkeye stuff, but they have had some great interviews usually around 7:00. Much better than live radio.

I'll take your word for it. Both can kick rocks as far as I am concerned

Same. I am ready for football to start since M&A has basically become the Caitlin Clark Hour.

He's a more annoying version of Condon IMO. Any time those 2 start getting off on betting stuff that's when I change the channel. He's too much into NBA and Hawkeye sports for me too and not diversified enough to carry much of an in-depth conversation on anything that doesn't involve what he's into the most. I don't expect KXNO to cater to ISU and at least we get a little of that now with Busse on with Heather but my goodness Lucas can beat a topic to death if he is hosting on his own. The other day I would have been drunk in 10 minutes if I took a drink every time he said "4-4-2-2" when talking about Big 10 media days and how he can't wait to see what the Big 10 commissioner says about the CFP format and bids. Pretty sure no one cares about his stupid notebook and his betting bookmark thing he does with Sean too.

I get why people don't like Travis but he was tolerable IMO. I would be surprised if there is much left for local programing on KXNO in 5-10 years. The best hosts they have had in recent years either moved on to other things or got let go and now we're left with a JV squad of talent there. Those that remember Cotlar in the morning, there were folks here that didn't like him but compared to what we've had since he was fired with Marty Tirrell for their little on air tirade I would take a host like Cotlar in a heartbeat. Someone that had regular guest segments and could fill 2 hours with a diverse set of topics and not have to rely on fluff content they pulled off the internet to fill the time. CW was probably the last host KXNO had that could talk about nearly anything and actually did the prep work before the show to be knowledgeable on what they would talk about.

Busse has definitely improved since he took the job, but I can’t shake the feeling that he really doesn’t respect (or maybe even like) Iowa State (sort of) or the Big 12 (definitely).

Osen never shied away from his Badger-dom, but it seemed like he genuinely loved covering ISU and the Big 12
This is the biggest thing that Busse is ignorant to. He's a Big 10 kid who can't help but be condescending to Iowa State and the Big 12. Nobody's asking him (well, most reasonable fans) to be a homer, but as a salesman, you have to ingratiate yourself to the fans (and coaches) of the team you're covering. Osen was a master of this and why he's a natural salesman and moved up the ranks quickly at 247. He quickly found really good sources on the football staff and had insider tidbits on the football roster. Busse thinks he's a newspaper reporter and speaks to Iowa State fans on 247 as if we don't know anything about the sports we follow religiously. He basically wants to be a national voice and regurgitates the Ari Wasserman/Bud Elliot talent accumulation content playbook. Osen tweeted about ISU constantly. Busse is more likely to comment on the House settlement, the Tennessee QB fiasco, and the Chicago Bears. He just doesn't get it.

I have no idea what the radio show is like but this seems to be a common sentiment about him and I'm not sure I get it. He's not Ossen but the recruiting coverage over there has gotten better and it's better than here on CF. (Not getting I to CA vs CF) I have both and will keep both subs.

When Ross isn't talking sports he is great. One of my favorites

He has decent insight on recruiting. Noticeably better basketball sources this transfer season. But Osen had a toooon of football nuggets that proved to be accurate. And he had a pretty good beat on football and basketball recruiting. Busse has improved, but he still speaks to the 247 as an outsider. He just doesn't understand his audience.

It's sad, I listened to KXNO back when I was in high school over 20 years ago. But I haven't listened in probably over a year now; it's just dying a slow death.
