No problem at all with how Prohm handled Lard. I don’t think Lard will ever play anywhere else, but I hope I’m wrong. I always supported the way Prohm handled McKay as well. That was a case though where the player got the message through his head.

This is so spot on I cant say it enough. Things that he has set in place for them and they do/don't do is a big deal as opposed to us we would say "that's BS he should be playing" Its not our call its CSP. Also as far as stuff that's disciplinary its none of our business either way.
I like how all these fans think we need to know what happened before we judge the situation. What we KNOW is that Lard was suspended multiple times for violation of team rules. What we KNOW is there have been almost no other such suspensions since McKay. That leads a reasonable person to believe that the team rules are well communicated and everyone knows what they are. What we also KNOW is that after multiple suspensions, the wellness center, etc. Lard continued to violate team rules.
So what we know is, regardless of what the violations were, Lard didn't have enough discipline or consideration for his teammates, the staff, his university, and the opportunity afforded him to do what he was asked of him multiple times, and to do what everyone else on the team seems fully capable of doing.
You can speculate on the violations and decide that "doing X really isn't a big deal." But we can also look at the situation and say, Cam had a tremendous opportunity. Cam had his teammates counting on him. Yet he repeatedly failed to do what was necessary when everyone else on the team managed to. That signals a problem that he needs to correct if he wants to succeed.

I forgot that Prohm went into that offseason with a "Plan A" of Malou and Lard to be the primary big men for the next season. Man, would this have been a fun team...

Instead, we all know the Malou saga (and I believe that Prohm said he would have eventually been academically eligible at Iowa State before deciding to "go pro" and basically disappearing from basketball, as far as I can tell), and Lard does not make it to campus until the second half of the season and is on an academic redshirt. We all know his story, which has many twists and turns, and now the ISU portion of it is over. I still wish him luck.
Prohm had a really nice Plan A that season.
Plan B was something like Bowie and Holden which, admittedly, was not great, though it worked out okay and it was still a fun season. I think Prohm deserves some credit for having a good initial plan and then salvaging it, however, with some warm bodies.

How will another coach keep Lard in check during the summer and then during a whole year he has to sit out, and also a whole other summer before he finally plays?
A lot of that will be on Lard, but I doubt another coach will care about as much as Prohm did about him.

I have a feeling that he'll transfer to Nevada. Nevada is becoming transfer U and have been pretty successful last few years since Muss took over.

The people who are actually involved in the program, not an anti coach “fan” like you and the rest of the crew, know what’s happening, and are ok with team rules.

Why are “good fans” lol even pretending lard Transferring has everything to do with his suspensions. The better player watched a backup start all year with no legitimate reason why.. all the egg heads will say but cam fouled a bunch.. well cam played defense and contested shots while Jacobson jumped out of the way to ensure he stays on the floor. Lard wasn’t going to waste another year sitting behind a lesser player. good move on his part because prohms fascination with giving the opposing teams the upper hand by starting Jacobson is set in stone.

Incorrect. Some of us know because we have connections close to the program. We have heard the accounts and we know he was given more than enough chances.
Also, if you know anything about coaching you know that 1) coaches either genuinely do care about their players growing up and being good men or 2) at least say it because it sounds good and moms want to hear it on the recruiting trail.
I tend to believe that CSP is closer to the first example and I hope that every coach my kids play for is like that.
As Haalands articles point out teams got to.the rim at will when Lard was in the game. The percentage of shots at the rim go through the roof with Lard in vs Jacobson. He blocks and alters more shots if course, but not nearly enough to offset the massive increase of shots at the rim allowed when Cam comes in. He was better vs osu by a long shot. 270 lb Wesson in a let em play officiating crew is better suited for Lard. Otherwise Jacobson produced better and more consistently the balance of the year. Lard was unrealized potential and the fact that once or twice a game he'd have a big block doesn't change the fact that we was not a good defender. Challenging shots is great, but not when there are so many shots at the rim to challenge because you are awful in the P&R .

Yikes!!! I hope Cam succeeds but RENO, NEVADA?? I cant think of worse place for a kid with discipline issues to go.
Solomon would have ate his lunch, cause that's what Solomon does. I feel sorry for the person that stole $10 from him, cause they're never gonna eat lunch again.
