Last night Fran said Lawson would not be POY ...

It's factual. I didn't think there was a fanbase out there well obsessed more about their rival than ISU, until I moved to KC. KSU fans are oddly obsessed with KU
For the same reason. Unbearably arrogant fans.

FWIW, I also disagree with Fran who thinks POY should be the best player on the championship team. It's always going to be a tough call with so many great players in the Big 12. This year is no different and I could see it going to either Lawson or Culver. Both great players who were fun to watch. Wish ISU would have had either one of them. Sorry Surly, I just think Brown (and Wade) are a tiny notch below those two. KSU had a great team though, which is why they're on top.

I am sure that next year if KU wins the Big 12 again that suddenly winning won't be quite as important in the voting. Hopefully Kansas is picked below 1st in the league preseason so that Self can become eligible for the CoY award as well.

Fran apparently knows his stuff.
As I said earlier, I believe Fran got some inside information given he made a point of changing his mind at the last moment. He's been solidly in Ku/Dawson's camp all year for some reason. Probably mothership orders to get behind their prime assets.

TxT's championship game getting relegated to ESPN News was b.s. of the first order. Further evidence of a network bias.

Inside information on awards that are voted on by coaches? I wonder who his "inside sources" were?

Bias of what? Preferring to show games that more people will watch? How dare a TV network pursue ratings and money? Good grief.

Preferring to show games of teams they are vested in rather than games that actually matter, championship games like TxT at Ames. Relegated to ENews so ESPN can continue to prop-up the crooked assets in Lawrence. My gosh.

And your comments aren't aging well in this thread. You might want to stop digging until the media makes their mark. Perhaps they'll come to crooked Ku's favor by naming Lawson. I've already written that coaches have reason not to award Self.

Your faux outrage is amusing. If you do not understand the basic concept of ratings then don't comment on the decisions a TV network makes about which games they choose to televise.

More people watch Kansas games than Texas Tech games regardless whether Texas Rech is playing for a share of the Big 12 or not. They have the actual data and make business decisions based off of that data. ESPN isn't "vested" in Kansas basketball. They are vested in making money, which is done by putting the games that will draw the most viewers on the channels that are available to the most viewers.

It's that simple.

I mean seriously, there are enough legitimate things to complain about. This is like complaining that Disney is biased against the midwest because they built DisneyWorld in Florida and not Manhattan, Kansas.

I will trust that the folks trying to maximize corporate profits for the multibillion dollar network are choosing which games to put on which channels because the viewership data supports their choice.
