At the same time. How many times has a KU player won it because they won the league when someone else should have? I am not sure to be honest.
And if integrity should be taken into account, EVERYONE knew that Beasley got paid to go to Kansas State.
None. 2018 was as close to that as you can get but I legitimately feel that Graham deserved it more than Trae Young.
In only 5 seasons of KU 's 14 year winning streak did a KU player win Big 12 PoY.
2005- Wayne Simien. Was a consensus 1st team All American. Joey Graham made a couple of third team all American teams.
2011- Marcus Morris. Was consensus 2nd team All American. Jordan Hamilton of Texas made 2 2nd team AA teams and 2 3rd team AA teams and Jacob Pullen made 3 3rd team AA teams.
2012- Thomas Robinson. Runner up for National Player of the Year.
2017- Frank Mason. won every National Player of the Year award.
2018- Devonte Graham. Consensus 1st team AA as was Trae Young but Young averaging 6 turnovers a game in Big 12 play on a team that finished in 6th place was taken into account.
Winning matters, yes. But it's not the only standard. Compare Beasley's numbers to Lawson.

And yes, Beasley was paid. Hugs and Frank cheated. Their bagman assistant was Delonte Hill. That brief K-State period only shows how quickly money can make a program like that existing at Ku for decades. The difference, Frank Martin was effectively fired at K-State by A.D. John Currie for cheating and other discretions.

Oh, I never said Beasley was the only one Frank Martin paid. Just like DeSousa and Preston are hardly the only ones at Ku. The difference is how the schools dealt with crooked coaches.

One of the reasons I so loathe sports media is that this has been going on at Ku for decades. Everyone knew Self was cheating. But the media in Lawrence, KC, and nationally sat around acting like cheerleaders rather than reporters of fact. It took the FBI to uncover the sewer that is and has been Ku hoops back to Larry Brown's crooked banner.

I don't. I have no issue with any of the previous choices because I feel that team performance should only be factored in way down at the bottom of the list. Save for maybe 1 choice, I agree with all of the previous selections for Big 12 PoY in the last 14 years.
To the OP, Fran is using team performance as #1 on his list. Best player on the best team starts by choosing the best team and then selecting it's best player, which is absurd.
KSU rolled the song that leads their crowd into the "F%#k KU" chant with the confetti still coming down to celebrate their Big 12 title tonite. The greatest accomplishment of their star players careers and the first thing the university does is vulgarly obsess some more about Kansas.
But yes, please go on some more about the honor and integrity of Kansas State athletics...

It's factual. I didn't think there was a fanbase out there well obsessed more about their rival than ISU, until I moved to KC. KSU fans are oddly obsessed with KU
