Oh, I'm fine. It's championship week. And no FBI doings in Manhattan.

It was a good idea to take a picture of it. May be a while before they get to post it again.

If Lawson is POY it means his team's performance is not important. I'm sorry but I just don't buy that for a minute. Ku finishes third or fourth in the B12, after being slotted #1 in the country preseason, the Adidas-purchased streak ends, but Lawson gets it because of personal accomplishment. Not happening.
So you are ok with the award having to go to a Kansas player every year we win the Big 12?

I tend to agree that Lawson was the best player but even Bill Self said, that for this year anyway, the best player on the best team should be POY.

https://247sports.com/college/kansa...Lawson-Barry-Brown-Jarrett-Culver--129545941/

"Barry Brown, if they win the league he should be player of the year in the league," Self said on the show. "If we win the league Dedric should be player of the year. If Iowa State wins the league, [Marial] Shayok should be player of the year. If Tech wins the league, [Jarrett] Culver should be player of the year."
As I said, Self always shows great respect to his opponents. But that's 100% polite coach speak.

Go look at the list of past winners. It doesnt just go to the best player on the 1st place team. Otherwise there would be 14 consecutive Kansas players having won it.

I believe there are factors beyond points that matter, like how your team performed v. expectations, leadership, defense, and the like, yes. Here there are three candidates. I'd rate them Culver, Brown, Lawson for POY. I also believe coaches have a rightful bias against awarding Self's crooked program. It's the reason he hasn't been COY numerous times.

That's foolish. So Lawson has it held against him that Dok, Sds, Vick and Garrett missed a combined 49 Big 12 games? Ridiculous
And "compared to expectations is ignorant as well and assumes that the lazy attempts at preseason rankings were anything more than guesses based on speculation. Basing postseason awards on preseason speculation is the epitome of dumb.

The reason Self rarely wins Big 13 CoY is this dumb "based on preseason expectations" shtick. "But he was picked to be 8th and got 2nd" seems to be the cry for all the winners. Maybe if they were better coaches they would have been given the benefit of the doubt to finish better than 8th in the first place.

Trust me, there have been numerous times where it made more sense to pick a different team 1st in the preseason but they picked KU anyways "cause it's Bill Self and he always finds a way to finish first."

Culver is T5th in the Big 12 with assists, at 3.7/game. Lawson is T34th with 1.8/game. That unselfish play from Culver could have easily turned into points, and made him the conference leader in that stat.... Both players are great.

That's really not how stats work. He didn't and he isn't. Assuming those 2 additional shots per game would magically result in the same fg% is a gross neglect of common sense. A player like that who is far and away the #1 option on his team typically pass when it is no longer a good idea to take a shot due to the good defense you are facing at the time.
Assuming he scored an identical rate of points per fga that he has in Big 12 play, he'd finish with 12 points more than Lawson. And there is virtually no way he'd score in those extra situations at the same rate.

And yes, both are excellent players as are all the players who will be voted to the All Big 12 team.

The best thing about this argument, like preseason rankings, is that it will all be crystal clear here shortly. The coaches will make their picks, just as the teams play their schedules, and all the arguments, predictions, and rationalizations will be validated for their worth.

Lawson by a mile.

Oh, and Embiid was KU's best player the year he played and Ejim won (which I think he should've). KU ass-blasted us twice with Embiid in the lineup and would've been a Final 4 team with him. He goes down, ISU wins the B12 tourney, and KU bows out of the Dance early. So, really a great outcome - what were we talking about again?

Weber just said it would be Brown or Culver depending on who wins the championship. If split, I'm guessing Culver because he will have had a hell of a game in Ames to beat ISU there. Winning matters.

Except when it's Kansas.

This just in... Steve Prohm thinks Shayok should be MVP of the league.
I've heard Bill Self is advocating for Lawson.
Beard may be rooting for Culver.

I think if Lawson would have done what he did this year at any other school. He would have been the MVP of the league. He basically carried KU. However, since it was the year that KU lost the title and he is the best player, it basically falls on him. If Lawson carried a team like Baylor to that record the way he has done with KU. He would win it.
