I never drove an automatic until I was about 20. This has always confused me how grown men think they are more of a man driving a stick shift. I did when I was 7. Not that difficult. Kind of like truckers thinking they have some magic skill. Literally anyone can do it if they have arms and feet.

Yeah, my boss’s 4 year old son once asked my 17 year old self, “When do you become a man?” I should have said in a couple of years.

Sounds like KnappShack is almost there. :D

I've never had a kid. Younger wife is starting to push for it. I'm coming up to a pretty substantial milestone on the odometer

So.....I could be a late bloomer if I knock one past the goalie

My first experience with a stick shift, at age 6 or 7, was on a John Deere B.

I had never had beer (or any alcohol) until my first weekend at ISU. Everyone there was puzzled by that.

Where they love the governor
One caveat I used to think of. If I was a victim of a carjacking at some intersection I'd get forced out of the car then they would get in only to find it was a stick and get pissed and shoot me. So, my plan was to get out of the car and run like hell.

It could end up like this guy:
http://www.al.com/news/birmingham/index.ssf/2017/08/carjacking_robbery_foiled_afte.html

As he did so, he said a black male suspect came up to the window and pointed a handgun at him. The suspect - later identified as Brown - demanded his phone, tablet and car keys.

The victim complied and Brown tried to drive away in the car. The suspect, however, was unable to operate a car with a manual transmission. He left the tablet and the keys in the car and fled on foot.

The kicker is the police used the Find My iPhone to catch the guy.

I wasn't a football fan until I got to college. Most people who love football grew up watching it as a kid, but I hardly ever did. I was just a baseball fan.

Then, in 1998 I watched the "streak breaker" game in the Cy-Hawk game and was totally hooked. That started my love of football and my fandom for the Cyclones.

I was never a baseball fan until I was about 30. My new FIL was a big Cubs fan and got me hooked. He also had a boat and I had never water skiied. I got up on the skis on the second try and loved it.

I didn't play rugby until I was about 40 - definitely a little late for that sport! I didn't play a competitive game of soccer until I was 47.

I didn't get my first pet until I got a dog when I was 29. I got her within months after moving into a condo, which was my first place in my life that allowed pets. Dad banned animals in the house when I lived at home and I couldn't have pets when I lived in the dorms and apartments.

Started surfing at 23, at the time that was ancient. Nowadays it's a bit different, all sorts middle-aged beginners crowding the lineup on CostCo waverider foam boards.

Started playing a game called Hurling at 39. Can't tell if the rash of injuries that ensued were due to the nature of the game or my old age. I keep telling myself it's probably a bit of both.
